Transfer Rumours 21/22

30m for David seems well reasonable to me. Guy has big potential.

Would they consider taking Origi back?

So David Zakaria's Gladbach has conceded 6 goals at home vs Freiburg – all 6 in the first half. I didn't see the game, but that's not a good sign if you're the star defensive midfielder for your team. I did notice his lack of positional understanding in other games I've watched...

The midfield was Nehaus (whom we were linked to for couple of months over the summer) and Zakaria.

Yeah, I watched the highlights - most of the Freiburg goals were from set pieces, I saw only 1 goal where Zakaria could have in theory prevented it if he challenged for the ball with more conviction. A freaky game and result.

Fabinho was the holding mid in out 7-2 loss against villa last season.
I don't think too many conclusions can be drawn from a single game.

True. But like I said, I noticed his lack of positional awareness in some games before, so this gave me pause even though he looks very strong and skilled.

How DID we manage to lose 7:2 to Villa with Fabinho and Virgil and Mo etc? I guess we had some problems even before the CB injury crisis.

I wasn't doubting you mate and have huge respect for your opinion.
It was more a general commentary on how people can get an incorrect impression of players from a single game

Pretty crazy to look at this now that the team is back to somewhere around its best level. I remember early that season at times we looked imperious, but there was this feeling of arrogance which led to sloppiness and was so uncharacteristic for a Klopp team. Villa was a freak result, but in a way it’s been coming; we played that super high line, but the midfield pressure was not always there, players seemed to have bought into their own hype a bit plus they were mentally exhausted after playing almost 2 seasons of non-stop near perfect football. Klopp managed to stabilize things somewhat after the double-blows of Villa and Goodison, but once we lost that first home game to Burnley, the team just gave up.

Good to see that this shared experience seems to have brought the team closer together; Mane and Salah mended their differences and now they all look as hungry as ever. It will be a difficult task against Gerrard’s Villa on Saturday, but I think our players will want to deliver a pay-back.

There you have it 😉
If memory serves me right Joe Gomes started last season in better form than Virgil himself.
I don't think we would have lost that game in that fashion with Alisson in goal.

Not linked with us, but this guy caught my eye in Monchengladbach. Very young and inexperienced, but potentially a more well-rounded footballer than his midfield partner Zakaria.

Mchael Olisie still looks like a talent. Palace would probably let him go for £15-20m, plus he is homegrown.

Did Adrian fuck up 7 times? I've obviously not seen the replay of that game.

I didn't say obviously that we wouldn't have lost or that Adrian was responsible for all seven goals.
I don't think it was on Joe Gomez either which seems to be what you were implying

I remember Adrian playing a twat of a pass to Gomez a couple of minutes in that Villa eventually scored from. Put us under the cosh right away

Fabian Ruiz linked £40.5m is the supposed bid needed to lure him away.

He is going to replace Mané. We will use the Mané proceeds and the wage savings to buy Bellingham.

This makes more sense that Traore for sure, even if I think Traore could be helpful.

How much do you think Mane is worth?! He's 29 yo, on big wages and nowhere near Mo's level (either skill or the transfer fee we'd likely get for him). Added to which who would buy him and where he'd agree to go (e.g. NOT Newcastle)?
