rorysmith_tel: For what it's worth, I'm not convinced Torres will get what he wants. #LFC very cross and very strong-minded. Long three days ahead, though.

Where's your percentage system now then Rory?

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

not sure why FSG is getting stick... if he stays he prob would be talking to chelsea all season anyways and he won't put in a proper shift every time he plays. IF we sell now we're guaranteed a half decent fee and maybe a player too

I'm not sure I agree Fabio, if we wait until the Summer we're protected by his contract clause. Selling now would probably mean getting around £10m less.

That what I think as well, it's fishy as fuck and if it is true then FSG have just officially finished their graceful honeymoon period in my eyes. Disgusting stuff.

Rubbish mate. FSG have had the club just over 3 months. Torres disillusion has been around for a while and it's well known. There's a few things that sours this for me though.

1. He committed himself to the club less than 3 weeks ago
2. The timing of this is disgraceful
3. His reason for being unsettled was lack of ambition and the club not matching his. Well what's makign a record signing then ?
4. LFC have been poor for a year or so. Part of that has been down to his injuries and his sulking on the pitch
5. He wants to go to Chelsea, the soulless face of football which goes against everything he preaches about.

None of this is the fault of FSG

Fuck him anyway. We should play hardball with the fucker. He leaves on our terms not his.

Agree completely, although there is still something in all this that does not add up.

Particularly about the bit that he was part of the cause of the problem BTW.

He's well been tapped up Vlad - heads been turned.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

If this does go through, the Chelsea game is going to be a potential nightmare, more so than it already was.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Fuck him. I think Suarez is going to be a hell of a signing and Nandos spoilt child antics have totally overshadowed what should have been a great day for LFC. A step in the right direction. It's like he's behaving like a kid with a tantrum because a siblings getting some attention he should be. Gobshite.

N oone knows if that clause is even in the contract. It's rumoured to be, but there's no evidence. If it was a potential bargain now then more than chelsea would be involved

He won't, if this was the days of Souness, Smith etc he probably would have ended up in the hospital.
Gerrard will probably hug him and wish him well.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

In the last four years ALL (bar Pepe) of our best players have wanted to leave to go somewhere BETTER.

Stevie, Alonso, Mascher and now Torres.

If this isn't telling us something about the way we manage the playing staff I don't know what will.

IF it's not there, then we've every right to sell at only the price we wants until his contract runs out in 2014.

80 million for the traitor thank you very much. It not being there only strengthens our already strong hand.

NB. This does show that the Ballague bloke is ITK after all

Fuck that.

They're not 'BETTER'.

They just have a better team.

We've been slowly turning to shit for years, and we will need time to get out of it.

UT THERE WILL never BE A better CLUB THAN lfc, AND EVEN THAT HORSEFUCKER KNOWS IT.

And when that creature finally goes past our titles he'll still know it.

What? So all our managers have been the problem? I'd say the odd barren season and mistakes and/or a lack of ambition have played their part more than anything. I've got no sentiment for Torres over this and put no blame on how he's been looked after.

Gerrard gave everything for years, Alonso got fucked over by Rafa, and Masher was just a fuckhead. Torres is a spoilt, petulant cunt.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Chelsea is a massive mistake imho regarding a move. They need to rebuild and all their top players are 30+.

Torres has been very badly adviced here, on a short 3 day holiday in Spain and a bid and transfer request emerges.
Planned? Of course.

Still, if he turns around a issues a massive apology, he'll get the same chance as Stevie. But his actions have been disgraceful, and he has to regret that now. As Torres the image, brand and bond with the fans is destroyed.

50 mill + would do the trick, but I don't think Chelsea can afford that tbh. And even though he's done this, I still can't see Torres in another shirt than red. Not yet anyway.

Can time heal a wound like this if he changes his mind?

I don't think it's about managing our playing staff. It's about investing and winning.

After we won the CL we attracted some big players because of our performances in Europe.
Playing for Liverpool almost guaranteed you at least a semi final in the CL.
I think Mascherano and Torres felt duped.

McManaman gave us about 10 years before he left and that also stemmed out of frustration. Add Owen as well.

What bothers me isn't their loyalty.
It's that those players might just be the ones who were ambitious and wanted to win things. Maybe the rest weren't winners.
Just players content on collecting a paycheck and playing regularly.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Anyway, selling torres will lift our trophy curse as we've won nothing since he joined and even AM have won something since moving him on 😉

The last time a top class striker left us, we won number 5.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Torres is too good for us. He's not in the CL. He won't be in the CL league next year either. And he's not a boyhood red or anything.

Of course the timing stinks to high heaven, but that's all I've got against him.

I argued on here that if were going to leave Chelsea would be his most likely destination. Where else can he go?

Too good for us? Bollocks. Chelsea may be a better team but they'll never be a bigger club nor will they tantamount to anything much other than a plastic entity financed by a dubious sugar daddy. Has anyone considered this - this is possibly the last window those type of sugar daddy clubs can invest heavily before the financial fair play rules come into place?
