Poor old @GuillemBalague. He might have an odd beard, and inconsistent delivery from the right flank, but he's going to be owed apologies.

Fernando Torres has told Liverpool that he wants to leave, a move that will only fuel Chelsea’s confidence that an improved bid will allow them to sign the striker before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday.
The Barclays Premier League champions are prepared to offer £40 million in cash plus Daniel Sturridge, the England Under-21 striker, whom Liverpool inquired about taking on loan last month.
Liverpool rejected a straight cash offer of £35 million for Torres on Thursday and maintain that he is not for sale, but Chelsea are hopeful of capitalising on the player’s disenchantment at Anfield to get the deal done.
The Spaniard has not issued a written transfer request but has made it clear in a phone conversation with club officials that he would like Liverpool to enter formal negotiations with Chelsea.
Liverpool’s official position is that Torres, 26, is not for sale, but they would consider cashing in if he is adamant he wants to leave.
Yesterday, the Anfield club agreed to sign Luis Suárez, the Uruguay striker, from Ajax in a deal that could be worth £22.8 million. Suárez was signed to complement Torres, but there are increasing concerns that the pair may never play together. Liverpool also had a £6.5 million bid for Charlie Adam rejected by Blackpool .
By confirming Chelsea’s bid on Thursday, Liverpool have effectively put the ball in Torres’s court by placing the onus on him to force through the transfer. It is understood that his contract includes a buy-out clause enabling him to leave for £50 million, which was introduced by the previous Liverpool regime but comes into force only at the end of the season.
The West London club had a £25 million bid for Torres, who would be available for the remainder of Chelsea’s Champions League campaign, rejected last summer. They remain in negotiations with Benfica over David Luiz and have offered £24 million plus Nemanja Matic for the Brazil defender.

Tony Evans is going to be on Talkshite in a bit.

I expect he has bad feelings about this.

So many questions..

Don't break our hearts Nando.

Stick Sturridge up yer shite pipes Chav cunts. I'm not believing this.

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

The story says they remain in talks with David Luiz and Benfica, but Benfica said today thar all talks are off.

BS

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

I don't believe the tabloid hacks. Blatant Real style media campaign to unsettle him.

However, Torres is welcome to hand in a written transfer request if he wants out.

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Fucks sake, after being pissed off at the whole Suarez saga, which finaly gets resolved today, now weve got this to put up with.

Please dont go Nando.

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

*IF* this is true...done in !

"@Andrew_Heaton: The kid wants to go, gonna take a monumental effort to turn it around, sorry to be the bearer of bad news."

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

40m plus some no mark is not an acceptable for losing our main striker 3 days before the window shuts. Tell Torres you're going no where until the summer, hopefully more teams interested so he doesn't go to Chelsea.

As if.
I haven't heard any comments from him so I'll reserve my judgement but if we're getting £40 Million and Sturridge I'm inclined to say sell if Torres wants to leave.

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

he's our biggest asset. top players will come, like suarez, just to play with him. he is worth more then 50 mill to us, unfortunately.

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Step in King Kenny to speak to him.

If he can delay this to the summer & negotiate an excellent deal now for the move, maybe throwing in a chav player, then he'll have done well.

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

If this is true then the player is disrespecting Kenny Dalglish by demanding a move a couple of weeks after his arrival with just three days left to replace him. All my affection for him will disappear in an instant should he force his way out in this way.

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

So was he playing well over past few games to put himself back in the shop window?

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

I knew Torres would leave us, but I thought it'd be to Spain/Italy, and in 6 months.

If he goes now it'll go from being a decent window to an unmitigated disaster. Chelsea? Really Torres?

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

No time to line up a genuine replacement, no way to do a proper deal

the least they could do is throw in anelka, it's not like he'll play much if torres goes there.

btw it'd be the funniest thing ever if he went there and they didn't qualify for the CL.

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

i would also want him booed when he returned to anfield. would that happen?

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

That said, all the journos thought he was off this summer aswell

Re: Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Feel sick. I've nearly accepted it. I was okay with Masher leaving. But this and Xabi have been horrible.

If he goes will we try sign another striker?
