I personally think the best way to change things, particularly other peoples behaviour, is by example.
Rage, I don't frequent football very much so I've not seen much of the things going on in there, so I can't really comment on the accusations against you, but I know that usually in life if you insult someone or are aggressive towards someone or are abusive then other people will unconsciously tend to mirror that and treat you in the same way back.
I'm not bothered by the petty arguments that go on, or people insulting each other, I just ignore it, skim past it, sometimes it makes me giggle.

In seriousness. I look back on the days of KT and when you and Brendan were considered amongst the more 'offensive' posters, and it's NOTHING at all like the culprits being discussed on here. At the end of the day, at least you guys are intelligent and can put forward healthy debate and you can construct some brilliant posts that provoke good discussion.
Rage and co are just nothing posters with no degree of objectivity or reason. They don't provoke healthy debate, they play for a reaction and they generally get it, at the cost of the forum, because threads get hijacked (and yeah I know I'm as guilty as anyone for responding) and good discussion is lost amongst it all.

I can't belive where this has ended up!
I'm as guilty as Mark for responding to Rage in an aggressive manner on the footie forum but in fairness to me and Mark, we tried debate and we were verbally abused by said poster. We responded in kind and I then made a conscious decision to try and ignore him. But, every thread was becoming polluted with his one-eyed, Rashid like, opinion.
Having frequented other forums where Rashid was a member, he was the same. Indeed DJ could be the same but both of them without the insults to fellow forumites and the manager and players. Both of these got booted from a number of forums for that. But Rage continued with his one man mission.
So yes, I did make a point of being abusive to him for my own personal pleasure. Its not big, its not clever, but it is ONLY the internet. Then along came the ignore function, which I wasn't sure whether I wanted to use but soon found it was brilliant when dealing with the likes of Rage and Zlatan on the footie forum. You just ignore them. Then of course we have the people who say using ignore is childish but also moan that abusing people is childish. Well, I prefer the first childish.
As for Rage, he was the one who started with the unprovoked insults to all and sundry. Dish it out, you got to take it back. I'm not sure if I agree with the reasons behinmd his ban, but by god he needed banning. If people want people banned for personal abuse, then perhaps it should be down to the person being abuised. I don't get offended by Rage calling me a cunt. I get offended that a poster such as him can continue in a vein that is destructive for the site.
Final point, I'd take Ryan and Brendan over the internet tools any time. But like my responses to Rage, their abuse of certain posters on a consistent basis can be a little boring but laced with the odd laugh out loud classic. This is my fave forum by far. Don't go changing too much!
