There's more than one reason IMO for ManUre's approach. For one thing ten Hag is looking to lay down a marker that he's the new boss and will make the decisions; For another, they want to try and signal to anyone who might be interested in signing Brylcreem Boy that they're not going to let him leave on the cheap. Last but not least, they know that in their current state they've got a right job on trying to replace Ronaldo's goals either from their existing squad or in the transfer market.

Shame innit.

I read Utd are under pressure from sponsors to keep Ronnie. If it was just about footie then think Te Haag would get rid asap. Anyone can see how disruptive he was to team tactics, ambling around up top like a playground prima donna. Apparently Martial has done ok in preseason so can see him getting the nod even if Ronnie stays.

I hate this pretentious cunt so much. The thought that I actually liked him as a player makes me sick

Isn't Chilwell on his way back? Feels like doing it for "feel-good" factor after losing out to Barca on signings.

Cue Man Shitty fans, with an absolute lack of irony, complaining about Pep not signing enough players - particularly in defence.

I get the allure of a big club but sometimes I don't get why certain players are so desperate to move to sit on the bench.

It's not like he's in the greek league earning buttons. Cucurella is still young, playing in a top league under a good manager. He's never getting ahead of Cancelo at City... Chelsea maybe there is more chance.

I think BeamRider said it ages ago - there’s no mystery, players pretty all follow the money - a move to Man City means you’re set for life, because you’ll get paid regardless if you play l, or get loaned and if you’re sold, you can expect the same wages even if it means the selling club topping up the buying club.

That’s if it doesn’t go well - if you do well - you can renegotiate up. Signing for a bigger club probably Ramos up personal sponsorship/endorsement opportunities as well.

It’s rarely about the “challenge” or “playing for a club you’ve supported as a boy” - it’s all money and ego.

He's not going there to be 2nd choice . Cancelo on the right, Cucurella on the left. He'll be an absolute mega star at City.

Not sure he’d be first choice at all - moving Cancelo to the right means dropping Walker.

I think he’d be in rotation, but not necessarily the regular LB.

Walker is 32 and his minutes are declining. He has almost no attacking threat. In the meantime, Cancelo does a lot better on the right. I think Pep is waiting to drop Kyle like a hot potato. With Zinchenko to Arsenal, Cucurella's only real competition would be Ake and Wilson-Esbrand
