I mean, I know there is a lot of BS, and our supporters do seem to piss basically everybody off for an attitude not of 'holier-than-thou', but strutting around like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever saying, look at us, we're Liverpool, and you can't match our history, our legendary nights at Anfield, our status as 'European Royalty', and fuck you all, we did it all without a filthy fucking oligarch or blood-stained oil money. It's less about self-righteousness than a sense of being exceptional. We're better, and its obvious.

Oh, we do, to loads of other fans - we’re one of the worst, to be honest.

We’re not in the “nouveau entitled” bracket like Man Shitty or Chel$ea, we’re not the corporate sluts that ManUre are and we don’t act the cunt in the same way as Real & Barca but we do love trying to make everything a romantic story we’re somehow we’re the guardians of all that’s pure and good.

I’m totally fine with that, by the way.

This.

And we've been steadily getting worse with our slogans, nfts, idiot mascot, kids books, Nivea adverts etc etc.

Our support has never (or rarely) sung horrible stuff, or sung about the opposition. Its something I grew up with. Same as the humour in the Kop and always inventing new songs to sing.

Its something Im proud of and explain to my lad but never crow about. It was part of our DNA long before 'this means more' bollocks, which was aimed firmly at the new American market.

Hang on a minute - the humour in the Kop, and inventing new songs, was often spur of the moment and OFTEN about the opposition (or more specifically a 'special' player or two on the pitch), that's what made them so funny !

We sometimes joke about an opposition player but it is normally in good nature, like Steve Bruce's big fat head. About the meanest thing Ive heard is Posh Spuce takes it up the arse at OT, which was funny as hell. We never, ever sing 'your support is shit' etc. It is rare for us to boo except tongue in cheek. Its been that way for decades.

I’ve been in the kop when whole sections have done the Munich da busters shit and sung some pretty crude shite about players that wouldn’t pass a PC test now

First read that as “fanny.”

Yeah maybe Im giving us too much credit. Utd bring out the worst in us. Chelsea too a bit - the fuck off Chelsea FC song, plus Le Saux and the rent boy stuff. But compared to every other club, I think our songs are 90% positive and about us. Chelsea really only have the Chelsea, chelsea song and the Gerrard rip off one. Utd only ever seem to sing about us. Shitty too.

I think there's something in that, and I hate the "This means more" shite.

In general I don't like the this means more tagline, but when Klopp says it, I find myself noding in agreement. And if it helps connect a new generation of fans to our club, who cares.

Agree, the best ones are the ones which fans generate. Nike's campaign on the Torres song was a masterpiece in that regard.

I'm pretty sure @FoxForceFive said he's heard the hissing sound at Anfield when we've played Spurs, which is fucked up.

Yepp - a couple who I stood (sorry sat mr Steward) next too joined in and I gave them a (very friendly) slap. They were instantly embarrassed and said they just automatically joined in. It’s probably a thing

[article]Chelsea are struggling to sell high-earning fringe players from their squad.

The Blues are going through an overhaul this summer, as they attempt to give manager Thomas Tuchel the signings he desires.

They have secured Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling, but have not completed any other big deals.

According to The Telegraph, Tuchel may have to persevere with several fringe players who do not fit his system.

The source states that Chelsea have talent that earns around £700,000-a-week that they cannot shift.

The likes of Michy Batshuayi, Ross Barkley, Kenedy, Timo Werner, Malang Sarr and Kepa Arrizabalaga are all seen as surplus to requirements, but finding suitors is a challenge with their high salaries.[/article]

Werner is the only ‘starter’ in that group. Chelsea have a huge roster of players on loan as well as this lot. I expect the new mgmt team have enough cash to put this lot out on loan too as long as they pay half the wages for a season

Chelsea look a mess. Theyve got rid of Bruce Buck, Marina and Cech, with the new owner now doing all their jobs despite no experience.
Tuchel is moaning about the lack of transfers, the training facilities on their tour, basically everything. Like Mourinho he seems incapable of staying anywhere more than two seasons.
Hopefully it looks like Kounde will go to Barca, leaving Alonso and Azpilucueta bitter and stuck at Chelsea, with Koulibaly their only replacement for Rudiger and Christensen as the season is about to start. I dont reckon Silva will stay fit all yhis season, he must be 37 now?!
And they've got literally 40 odd players either on loan, or like Barclay stuck at the club because of their mega wages and general shitness.

I suppose they can look to Utd for a bigger clusterfuck. Arsenal and Spurs look better bets for the top4 at the minute.

I always just assumed the Barcelona "more than a club" thing referred to their place in the struggle for the Catalan nation? As an important "national" institution, I suppose.

That just seemed obvious to me...

Everton will ride in like a knight in shining armor and save them. They love overpriced footballers who have failed at top clubs. Really confident Barkley will be back at Everton by the time transfer window shuts.

Everton look genuinely hopeless, awful manager, dreadful squad, zero money, an imaginary stadium and no fucker in the world wants to join. You'd need a heart of stone...

A head of stone would do ... so Barkley's got no problem fitting right back in.

Interesting to read that Ten Hag has said that if Ronaldo leaves (sale or loan) then he'll replace him from within the squad and not buy a new striker.

I was browsing BBC Sport yesterday and noticed an interview with Varane in which he stated that he doesn't regret his move apparently.

I still find it inexplicable that certain players have chosen to join Utd in recent years.

Pogba fucked up his career rejoining them when he could've gone to Real, Ronaldo could've gone to City where he could've seen out his last years in style, Varane... fuck knows what he was thinking. Mad.

Yeah… it’s ok though, they’ll still be trying to figure out how to spend all the money they made out of Utd for a few decades yet.
