Disagree. He's not the most technically gifted player we have, but he doesn't need to be. What matters, and all that matters IMHO, is that he's mustard at what we do need from him.

I don't agree with that, based on the amount of our play that relies on full backs.

No argument about the importance of our fullbacks to the overall pattern, but it's their crossing we mainly rely on and there's not a lot wrong with Robbo's normally. It went off track somewhat in the latter part of last season but that was because he was pretty much sh@gged out.

Spurs are a nice window in which opposition teams fancy getting a result against them so will commit men forward and Spurs can score on the counter. The more they improve the harder it gets. We've been on that journey already -we started facing the low block against 95% of the league and the need to innovate and find new ways of winning becomes essential. . They'll improve under Conte but third/fourth will be their limit. As Rubans says, Conte doesn't have the patience for the long term and him and Levy will clash spectacularly.

Classic Barca.

They've got Garcia who for some strange reason they made a big deal of getting, Araújo, Mingueza, Umtiti, Christensen and Pique on the books but no, they also need 60M Kounde.

The yearly swapping around of defenders isn't going to help their defence. It needs coaching and a central midfield that can actually run and protect the defence (though presumably Kessie will help in this regard). At their peak they were good enough to ignore the defence because the rest of the team was just that good but that was a long time ago now.

I know Barcelona aren't particularly popular round these parts and have become a bit of a laughing stock of late generally speaking but it's sad to see this. I used to have quite a soft spot for them.

I guess meglomaniac presidents can't quite be counted on for slow and steady.

Yeah a billion years ago I liked the idea of the Catalan separatists sticking it to the fascists, but that's a long way from where we are now. And anyway it was only Valencia that held out for the whole civil war.
My son-in-law & family's hometown. I love the city.

Given the fact that you find the SCM gag of Barca owing us 42 million irritating, me thinks the soft spot is still there, Keni 😉

Valencia is probably the one Spanish team I came closest to rooting for - the Rafa connection helped and they seem to have a distinct identity and quite a few exciting players over the years.

It's a really nice city. But I think Gary Neville broke the football club, they've been shit since his lovely attempt at being a football manager

I'd happy to forgo the £42m they owe us if it meant Barca going under. It'd be worth seeing

So, Haaland scored a tap-in for City in a 1-0 win against Bayern. The good news backstory is that he has been struggling with various 'niggles' in preseason. Let's see how his body stands up to the rigours of the most intense domestic league in the world.

Chelsea just got fucking SPANKED by arsenal.

Different to our manc spanking as Chelsea have had multiple games to get match fit
