There was a consesus against MON during GH's last days. Ironically it looks like his Villa side have been improving throughout those years, while we had our ups and downs, but are currently looking very much on a deep down. He's also got a local spine to his team which I think is very important. I won't rule his name out once I accept that Rafa should go.
I don't understand why he would come here. He has a young improving team and a supportive board that stays out of the spotlight. Whereas we have no money and a bunch of cowboys in charge, we need a new stadium but there is unlikely to be any money for us to spend as we will have to scrape together the money to use as a deposit on a loan for it. Also the expectations are much higher here, despite the fact we are competing with Chelsea/City with unlimited money, Scum with an established team that is used to winning, and Arsenal who are well on the way to paying for their stadium.

Mourinho would come in a heartbeat.
Lets finish the season with Dalglish and the The Special One comes in may.
Dalglish wouldnt send a LB on with 5 minutes left in a match.

Too soon?
This calamity has been coming, and obvious from the flaws in his managerial skills, for over two years.
There are too many optimists and not enough realists though.

Who comes in then Vlad?

Hiddink has just stated that he wants to carry on with Russia.

Fuckin hell, who would be worse?
Feel free to make some suggestions then Larry

Anyone who doesn't rely on a flat back 9 and Torres/Gerrard every week.

I'd welcome MON & Mourinho with open arms. I'd like to think Mourinho would come although the financials may not appeal to the mercenary in him. MON would do if not.

God help me but I've lost faith.

Rafa is stifiling us, we need to be let loose, I'd rather lose 4-3 attacking and trying to fucking win, than all this negative defencive shit!

I'd take Keegan, just to see us play attacking football again! (I'm half joking, but only half)

Well, if City have not got there first - Maureen, I think he would jump at it to be honset

Well that would be more than acceptable Vlad.

But lets for a moment consider that for a few reasons he might not exactly be overjoyed at the prospect of taking over:

A. We're struggling big time
B. We're Skint
C. We have two utter clowns as owners

Who else?

I find it astonishing that people seem so confident that MONg or Mourinho would 'drop everything' and come to Liverpool

Why would they? We haven't got a pot to piss in and the squad is full of fucking cunts like Lucarse, Insua, Drossena et al

I like Mourinho a lot in that he is a winner and a character but after 10 years ofshit football,I really want an attacking manager.

Your kidding right? MON would jump at the chance to manage Liverpool!

He'd be my 2nd choice after Mourinho.

You obviously don't remember King Kenny's last couple of seasons in charge here. Google for the team he sent to plat at Milwall in 1990.

Rafa4PM, you over-rate Rafa as much as you under-rate the club.
Thats bollocks.

People thinking that the best managers in the world will jump at the chance to come to us in the state we're in, are equally off their heads!

The issue with money is we will have to pay Rafa £20 odd million pound to sack him then pay for a new manager either Hiddink or Mourinho hopefully who will come in with no funds to spend!!!!

Has your faith in Rafa waivered yet?

I honestly believe that there are plenty of managers who would fancy their chances of achieving something with minimal changes to the squad.

Managers who get players who practise things like passing and attacking in training. WHo spend time getting to know the players and how to get the best out of them. Who know how to give them confidence. Who know how to make substitutions and change a game.... and when to do it.

His head wasn't right after buring Liverpool fans after Hillsborough mate.

Mourinho, I'd be inclined to think he wouldnt come.

MON would jump at the chance I reckon.

If I was a candidate for the Liverpool job I'd see it as a great opportunity. Firstly, it seems you're guaranteed fucking years before you're written off, secondly if you fail everyone will blame the owners and say "ah well, he's jus one in a long line of highly rated managers to find it impossible to win the league for them and if he actually succeeds in winning even one league title, he's a fucking instant Messiah with he unwavering loyalty of milions of fanatical fans who will forever love him for ending their pain.

Why would I be kidding? He has a good thing going at Villa, why the fuck would in want to come to a club struggling with internal politics and with no money? Villa are not a small club either, granted they don't have the history of Liverpool or the Scum but they are one of only 4 teams in England to have won the European Cup.

This "not got a pot to piss in" thing.
Does anyone think the owners are that fucking thick that they would not protect their investment by not bringing in a top manager and giving him money.

Yes it has begun to.

But it's ludicrous to think about getting rid unless we have a better replacement lined up.

Nobody has been able to name a single manager yet that would fit the bill AND that we'd be able to get in.

Thats exactly what you said in the summer.

Well, since this seems to be the thread discussing potential new managers, I'm actually warming up to the Rijkaard (with Ten Cate as assistant) suggestion made by Rashid in the other thread. Any thoughts?

Which is why we're not getting a new manager in.
