Todays Games

A Spurs win today will leave them 5 points clear with two games left, same for city if they win... they both have to play each other yet.

Theoretically if they both win this weekend and draw midweek and both lose on the final day its still possible.

If we beat chelsea and hull.

I have ignored villas chance on the grounds that it is already unlikely enough that all the above will happen.

That he is, plus he can play equally well on either wing rather than merely "do a job" on one of them. Definitely in with a chance of going to S.Africa.

Just read that he cost them 6million. They didn't seem to have much competition either.

He's on something like 85k a week moving from a Championship club. No other club would have paid him half of that.

Guaranteed Europa league football for us.

Spurs and Citeh duke it out for 4th place. Whoever wins next week will most likely get it. If it's a draw. Spurs only need a point against Burnley. Or Citeh a draw/win against West Ham.

this result makes me want to win tomorrow just so we can finish above Aston Villa... 6th sounds slightly better than 7th.

I hope City get it. Logically, they're gonna attract players anyway, if Spurs get it it's just another team to compete with.

I like your thinking, marky. we don't want anyone competing with us for 5th, 5th place is OURS!!

Ha ha ha.

the annoying thing is we surrendered 4th not with a roar but with a whimper. pathethic draws with fulham and brum and a shocking loss v wigan.
season over with two games left to play

It's not until the fat lady sings.
As Molby says, all we need to do is get six points, City and Spurs draw mid week and both lose their final games, Spurs away to Burnley (Last game in the prem & nothing to lose) and City away to West Ham....well who knows, as you say another four points in the bag would have put a whole different perspective on it.

regards

yeah, just 4 points from those draws would have at least put us on even keel with Spurs & Man City. We would have been still in with a chance of 4th then. Wigan's won at home against Chelsea and Arsenal, so give them credit for pullling one over Liverpool, whose performance apart from result, was atrocious.

All 4 of the following scenarios have to happen for us to get 4th...

1. We have to beat Chelsea and Hull.
2. The Spurs v City game has to finish a draw.
3. Spurs have to lose away at Burnley.
4. City have to lose away at West Ham, or draw with a worse goal difference than us (current goal difference: City +29, Liverpool +28)

At best maybe one or two of them could happen, but not all four. Miracles do happen but this would really be pushing it.

I take it they both won then.... shite.... it was a whimper of a season from us all round, a despicable season really. For us an absolute car crash from begginning to incredibly bitter end.

No team dominated, no team truly looked really good, or champions worth the name, all of the top four last year turfed out early in Europe etc numerous defeats for all the bigger teams. Net reduction in great players in the league etc.... and for us the misery isn't ending for a while yet. We will probably lose a manager, happily from many peoples points of view but even that wont change the overall situation for the club, it will change fuck all in fact. The truth is we need those new owners and the right investment right fucking now. Not that that matters to the club, we've got a lifelong Chelsea fan as chairman for gods sake!! .... what the fuck are we doing to ourselves??

Which manager worth his salt would want to go to a club so horribly riddled? Our name aside we've got nothing to offer your Mourinho and the like.... just boardroom greed and fan desperation. We may well cobble something together, probably that hodgson, but it will be a band-aid on a gunshot wound without a change at the very top.

Really really gutted.

I want spurs to get fourth fwiw, that will hamper manchester citys ability to attract the really class signings, hopefully echoing Buffons statement earlier today.

Hilarious how many bellends were quacking on about how we'd be fourth at very worst, even when it was obvious we weren't fucking good enough

That's because it is slightly better.

I can't be arsed with the Europa fucking League next year. If it wasn't for finances I'd rather we weren't in it.

He would have been free this summer, they came in early for that reason, lots of clubs were sniffing round bt only city had the requisite dough to spend.

wigan 2-2 hull city 93rd min equaliser for wigan denies them there 1st away win of season so now there officially relagted.
