Ok - as a Liverpool fan, I wanted in my heart for Chelsea to lose, mainly coz I did not want Torres's decision to leave us be a good lesson to all those other good players we may have.

However, my head was telling me something else:-

The CL brings in incredible wealth to a club, and as it stands the days where it was Manu, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea going for the top 4 is now gone. However, by Spurs not qualifying it means they don't add to their wealth which makes it less likely they will spend loads to strengthen this summer knowing they are not going to get that revenue.

Also - don't for a minute think that Torres is happy, he looks like a serious f*ck up who is going through a massive sulk.

Also from reading here - Chelsea winning means we don't have to go through the early rounds of the Europa cup, and that can only be a good thing.

Never!!!!!

Mikel looks like a completely different player under Di Matteo, thought he was excellent tonight.

Some Bayern Munich players including Arjen Robben refused to take penalties in their shoot-out defeat by Chelsea in the Champions League final on Saturday, forcing coach Jupp Heynckes to nominate keeper Manuel Neuer, Heynckes told reporters.

"Some of my players did not feel sure enough or confident enough to take penalties," Heynckes said. "They were tired after 120 minutes of play. You cannot force anyone to take a penalty."

Heynckes said among those was Robben, who takes all of Bayern's penalties but missed one in the first half of extra time.

"He did not feel confident to be nominated," said Heynckes. "So that is why Neuer took a penalty. It is understandable. That is legitimate and I need to know it."

Bayern lost 4-3 on penalties after taking an 83rd-minute lead through Thomas Mueller. Didier Drogba levelled two minutes from time before Robben squandered his spot-kick chance in extra time.

This was Robben's second big penalty miss after squandering his spot kick in a crucial league match against champions Borussia Dortmund in April.

Positives..... Is it right now that as runners up in the FA cup final, we now don't have to start qualifying for the EUROPA LEAGUE in about 3 weeks??? Straight into group stages?

I don't think the Chelsea result affects us. We're in the 3rd qualifying round and then a play off. Both are 2 legs.

We have to play one qualifier for the Europa, Spurs get straight to group stage.

We're in the 3rd round qualifier and then a play off, both 2 legs, for winning the carling cup.

WHAT ABOUT THE UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE?
England has three places available, with The FA Cup winners entering at the Group Stage, the team finishing fifth in the Barclays Premier League entering at the Play-Off Stage, and the Carling Cup winners entering in the third qualifying round.

CHELSEA WIN UCL
Chelsea qualify for the Champions League, with their FA Cup Europa League place going to the highest-placed Barclays Premier League team which has not already qualified for Europe. Liverpool qualify for the Europa League through winning the Carling Cup...

premiere league winners - man city
'champions' league winners - chelsea

proving that you don't need great coaches just lots and lots of money

Even though I hate Chelsea and last night made me sick, I have to say that Ashley Cole was a mutha fuckin ninja in that game.

A ninja that resembles a stroppy chipmunk that "can't be told nothin'", but a ninja all the same.

He had Robben (crap twat) locked off all night.

Ninja wanker.

You're ignoring part of what you quoted.

Chelsea won the fa cup therefore got europa group stage as winners.

They don't need it now so it drops to us as finalists. However spurs get the automatic one because they missed out on their cl place so we effectively swap with them.
