Belgium daily Het Laatste Nieuws report on Friday that Chelsea’s Thorgan Hazard is being tracked by Liverpool and Schalke after the Blues have made it clear that Eden’s younger brother will not be included in the Pensioner’s first team squad next season.

Leaving aside the merits of Chelsea’s decision over the player who just won the player of the season award in the Jupiler League, Het Laatste Nieuws now report that Thorgan is available either on loan or for sale.

Liverpool are said to be very keen on Thorgan, and the Reds are said to have sent scouts to watch the Chelsea loanee play for current club Lokeren against Zulte-Waregem last weekend.

Schalke are also known to have sent scouts too.

For the record, Jose Mourinho ran his personal eye over Thorgan Hazard on Thursday night, when the Special One watched on as Lokeren lost 3-1 to Standard Liege.[/article]
 
Chelsea under Mourinho selling to us? No chance! He and Rodgers may get along but after finishing above them this season there's no chance he'll be selling a decent player to us
 
Can't see Chelsea selling to us but I guess they've sold to rivals in the past. Not sure if he's any good either anyone watched.
 
It seems Chelsea are actually trying to not spend more than they sell (see their Jan transfer window dealing) too dramatically ... They'll buy big this summer, but sell big too (Luiz, Lukaku?, Courtois? etc). I think there's a chance they'll sell ... but not likely I guess.

Don't let the January transfer window fool you though - they still spent £45m nett for the season, which is after the £79m nett spent last season that followed a £63m nett spend season coming on the heels of a £97m nett spend season. I think their nett spend going down next season (if it happens) won't be because of them curtailing their spending, but because they happen to be shifting some guys who (still) have some decent value out (e.g. Luiz, Lukaku, Torres), as well as the boat load of youngsters they bought and loaned out before Mourinho returned.
 
Mr.and Mrs.Hazard obviously don't believe in giving their kids names which help them blend into the background.

I think I read, over the last 5 years, Chelseas average net spend was £58m. The next on the list was Man U with 28m , we were below Stoke with 17.5m. City were 97m.
 
I think Chelsea clearly have this policy of farming loads of young players to then sell on in order to subsidise their genuine transfers, so it would hardly be surprising if they were willing to let young Thorgan leave, but selling to a direct rival is another thing altogether.

Not surprising for City, as they were buying a winning squad as quickly as they could, just like Chelsea did when Abramovich first bought them. It took City twice as long to get their first title, which explains the higher nett spend in the recent 5 years (they won their title at the end of the 4th season, averaging 95m nett spend per season - Chelsea won it at the end of the 2nd season with a 102m nett spend per season). If City had got the right managerial hire from the start, they probably would've won it a season earlier, especially with Chelsea's form in the last 2 seasons.
 
Mourinho needs to raise funds. Selling young Hazard is hardly going to be an emotive issue. The lad is not going to feature for the Chavs as he is probably not deemed good enough yet and 6M adds to the kitty.

How good are the players they've bought and loaned out though? I know nothing about them, but looking just at the stats, Lucas Piazon seems to have had a good season at their feeder club in the Dutch league, Vitesse Arnhem.

Especially under Mourinho. I wonder if we'd have signed the Studge had we waited till the following summer.

These are some of the clubs they've loaned players to: Sevilla, A.Madrid, Valencia, Lazio, Liverpool, Everton, St Etienne, Aston Villa.

That list speaks volumes about the quality of player they're loaning out.

He sold Mata to the Mancs though. I know the Mancs weren't a threat this season, but still, they're a club that, under proper management and with a bit of outlay, could yet pose a challenge still in the seasons to come. In the last 3 seasons, the Mancs have spent 36.5m, 54m and 68m nett, so there's no saying they wouldn't spend more to get back into the CL or even attempt to challenge.
 
Fair point about Mata, but Mourinho probably reckons (rightly IMO) that it'll take the Mancs a while to get back even to approximately where they were. Even if the Glazers stump up all the cash they'll need, which IMO is not nailed on, bedding in half a new team won't be an overnight process.
 
His contract runs out mid 2016, he's hardly a world-beater yet, untested in the PL and Mourinho's an egoistic self-serving twat who's just pissed off his older brother.
 
Mourinho was watching him play yesterday. I saw a picture of him in the stands, but can't remember which paper / website that I saw it.
