What is cheating though? It seems that some cheating is deemed worse than others. It's ok to take someone down as they are through on goal(you get a card and it's never mentioned again), but it's not ok to emphasise the fact that someone has fouled you? And pretending that someone has fouled you is seemingly one of the worst crimes in the game, while actually fouling someone is ok, especially if you can get away with it.

Well taking down one clear on goal gives you a red card, while pretending to be fouled gives you a yellow. But I agree, the reputation is more hurt by one of them. However, if you took down one clear on goal 4 times in lets say 8 months you would first of all build up a longer and longer ban, as well as it would be kind of stupid for the manager to keep on selecting a guy who repeatedly ends up in that situation? Not easy this!!

But that doesn't happen, nor has there been any suggestion it should. In my opinion, it's a far worse offence to bring some one down on their way to goal, but it's seen as more manly than diving, so it's "ok".

I think it is the repeatedly diving that pisses off people. We pay to see a game of men (or even athletes these days) taking on each other as you say, and if someone goes down easy it is not manly at all. The rule for taking down the last man is clear, but you must remember that they needed to change it as it turned out to be a cowardish act with no clear rulings for it. That rule has actually been adjusted due to cheating/cowardism.

He is spot on about pretty much everything. It's reassuring that he's involved with the England set up though.

It's just bloody annoying who he is.

My thoughts exactly, couldn't stand the prick when he played but for some reason he just isn't nearly as hate-able now that he isn't directly involved with Man Yoo.

Not to mention he talks tons of sense and I agree with him on nearly everything he says. And most importantly for me he is usually very objective when talking about Man Yoo, most former footballers in the media really struggle to be objective about their former clubs and it is very annoying (our guys included).

Mark *cough* Lawrenson

I'm not sure they do TBH. Jocky's perfectly willing to slate us when he think we need it, and I haven't noticed any major cases of bias elsewhere. Lawrenson, whom Neal rightly mentions, is a weird exception - his problem is that he seems to try too feckin hard, and ends up calling *everything* against us (either that or the cnut really does dislike LFC for whatever reason).

But, however reluctantly, I have to agree about Neville. He's a very good pundit and almost always well worth listening to.

I think the problem was that it would leave United, the run away leaders, with only one player, and the likes of Everton with three. Which is a bit daft too.
Yeah you're right. In fact, the more I look at it, the more I think that team is bollocks.

Fuck Neville. Shit pundit. He hasn't a clue.

But michu has been playing as the main striker

Theres no way Michu should be mentioned in midfield. Just because he's a midfielder in fantasy football doesnt make him one in real life.

I've always felt that there is something riling Lawrenson about the club. May have to do with the injury that ended his career and how we treated him, or something. He is a massive cunt about us whenever possible.

Neville is an excellent pundit.

Agreed - he is straight to the point and like you say excellent in his analysis. When you listen to him talk - you realize why he has won as much as he did during his time with the Scum. None of that emotional half-arsed shit you get from other pundits.

I'd rather a balanced team like that than the type of teams Crooks for example picks, which are simply a collection of players that have scored.

Crooks, who's actually (and amazingly) a politics graduate, is living proof of how meaningless qualifications can sometimes turn out to be. The guy is more full of sh!t than the average cesspit.

G.Neville is brilliant on Sky Sport in fairness. Far better than i thought he'd be.

Don't think he's as good when it comes to co-commentating but he's always bang on in the studio. Very impressed.

Degrees and stuff like that really don't tell you anything about how smart a person is. Some of the dumbest (and professionally most useless) people I've met come from the 'best' universities and have some of the most sought after degrees.

No but I put up a link in the match thread of him talking about Bale and diving, so I assume it's similar.

Its the link were he find it ok for cyclists to cheat, so I guess it is do what it takes to win!!! As long as you win!!! Cause winning is all it is about!!!

Oh, yeah. The "doing what it takes" speech?

Neville's a good pundit, but that's skirting around the issue.

He said diving is bad, but he says you win at all costs ... And the authorities/refs etc will punish you if you get caught doing something wrong. That's all sports no?

It is. But he's not really giving an opinion. He's both condoning and condemning it at the same time.
