We all know that we're the thinking man's forum, and that sports journos and pundits from around the world flock here for tidbits. Well, Paul Gorst, shamelessly hoping to ingratiate himself with the powers that be in LFC is clearly spreading disinfo through @Halmeister. So if Halmy says it isn't happening, it's on like Donkey Kong.

I will be fucked off if he is the only player of 20m plus we sign. Dont even notice him at Bayern, and also his injury record suggests he is a slight improvement on Lallana, which is worrying in itself. Just want a player that will not force us to play woth 100 percent effort each game. Someone who is just great at unlocking. Fuck this, knew we would go on a downer, last three seasons have been too good.

Spain has 2 matches this week against Germany and Ukraine. Netherlands play this weekend and next week. Seeing how this potential deal is 'linked' to Gini's future, I doubt we will see much progress until next week.

Is that the real reason, though?

Gini wants Barca. Thiago wants us.
If the clubs agree on the price, there shouldn't be much to discuss regarding personal terms. I expect the agents can deal with it.

Terrible time to move to Barca as someone like Gini. There is literally no one to receive assurances from over your future past this season.

He wants one last, large pay day likely as not. He’s already won a title and the champions league.

If I had a year on my contract, had pretty much already won everything, wasn't English or a Liverpool fan, was approaching the end of my career, the club didn't seem particularly interested in offering me a new deal, I'd be tempted to spend the last few years of my playing career in Barcelona playing under my national team manager.

Last few years?! Koeman won't last the season. Next manager don't give two fucks about Gini. Welcome to Bale's world.

Gini is a good player and a professional. He's probably backing his ability to make an impact there regardless of whether Koeman survives or not. And so he should.

We're clearly on sell to buy mode this summer. It's no coincidence that our full back budget was essentially the same as what we got for Lovren.

Thiago's future is completely linked to that of Ginis. It's very unlikely we'll move for Thiago until we've got a deal agreed with Barca. It's still highly likely to happen, IMO. It's all just getting delayed because the sulky dwarf has thrown his toys out the pram.

There are five weeks left until the window ends so there's plenty of time for the deals to be concluded.

We've always been in that mode under FSG.

True, but we have bought before selling in the VVD/Coutinho time. I just think us signing Thiago before we have any money confirmed coming in for Gini is going to be very unlikely. We're clearly waiting on that.

This is undoubtedly true, but we have invested heavily in the stadium and a new state of the art training complex to the tune of a combined £250m or so. We were also about £350m in debt when they took us over. I'm not saying they're hugely generous owners, emptying their own fortunes into our coffers, but they have managed to bring success, invest heavily in the infrastructure, and meet the contract demands of some of the best players in the world, so that we're no longer fearing every summer as a time when we're going to be pillaged by clubs who pay top whack. Reptillians make good owners it turns out.
