Thiago.... Ja ????

They're still excellent. It's just that those sources don't give much away these days. It's a general policy.
I'm always wondering if they use the friendly journos as mouthpieces to push narratives & help control prices at least a little, so it could be a way to make it look like we're not completely serious or sold on him.

Some Euro hack was saying on the radio just now that Thiago badly wants to come and has agreed personal terms, but Bayern are sticking to their valuation because they don't actually want him to leave, despite the fact that his contract hasn't got that long to run. Don't know how/if that fits into the above.

Gotta say, I like how clear it is that Thiago is a leader, even shouting from the sidelines.

Very happy to add that to our mentality monsters

I've said it a few times, but I'm convinced that is a big reason we'll be in for him, to offset that loss of Lallana as a pseudo captain.

Thiago was very good. Clearly pulling the strings and being a leader.
Would love to sign him.

It would not be ideal having Fabinho as forth choice centre half.
The reality is though, that even if we do bring one in, there is a fair chance that Fabs will be better than him in that position.
Thought of the day..

Worked for Barca with Mascherano..

Why would he go to Arsenal?

I think Thiago is leaving Bayern because he wants a new challenge.
I don't think we are going to spend ~25-30 million on him.
I don't think Man City will.
I think Arsenal will - esp as they likely will be selling Lacazette.
Arteta is a good young manager and Arsenal have some really good young players and a solid core.

But its Arsenal, and he wants to win something and compete in the CL.

We wont pay 25-30 mill but Thiago can be signed for free (pre contract) in 4 months time so Bayern will have to accept a smaller fee is my guess.

I think Arsenal are a dark horse next year ... You can see he's doing good things there.
Oh well ... time will tell.

And clearly Arsenal would be a great final hurrah for a world class midfielder ? Oh dear me LT what are you smoking !

Thiago wants a new challenge but Bayern don't actually want him to leave - so he goes to Arsenal where he knows he will win nothing? I doubt he's looking for that sort of challenge in the last few seasons of his career.

He could stay there and win another German title and maybe another CL. He could come to us (or City) and maybe do similar. He could likely go to Italy and join Juve (pure speculation but you get the drift).

Arsenal would surely be the last place he'd go (and Bayern can't force him to, he's only got a year left on his contract - he can sign for whoever he wants).

I think Bournemouth is probably the last place .... but I get your point and agree with it.

If there is any substance to all this noise then I imagine he’s coming to us. I just don’t want the price to be no Gini

I suspect we had this lined up for January on a free, but cos of the really tight schedule want him early, & for the same reason Bayern don't want to let him go.

If we can't agree a price I think he'll stay at Bayern & then join us on a free rather than go to Arsenal.

Not at all.. i suspect he really wants to come to the PL but we've badly underestimated Bayerns reluctance to sell.

They figure keeping a player in his prime for 1 more year is worth the €15m we are offering.

I can't really blame them. However they will entertain bids of double that, as some teams will offer it.

I'm not really worried about Arsenal, despite the London factor. However City could enter the fray.

He was alright. I just wasn't blown away. I still prefer the "eye test" over stats.

If they're holding out for more than £25 mill.we won't get him till this time next year if at all, but if a deal can be done at £25 mill.I'm thinking our owners might wear that. It's not a huge amount for a player of this quality, they've already said no to the Werner deal and they won't want to keep turning Klopp down if they can help it.

Then maybe a check at specsavers? He dominated that midfield. Fair enough it's not the area of the pitch PSG are most combative in, but he was everywhere; covering both wings and center, dropping back, trying to look forward on a pass and he made a few important tackles without getting a card.
More impressive given it was a final too, he seems to have the right type of arrogance that quells any nerves and brings out more energy.
