Competitiveness isn't only measured by how many clubs can realistically win the league. It is, quite pedantically, how much competition there is between the teams. Other than 3-5 teams every season who are reliably poo, pretty much every other team can win a game against any other team. Rarely does a team win by showing up, a la Bayern or Juve (ok, until last few seasons). Or have a duopoly like in Spain.

It's the most competitive league. Period. The same imbalances exist between the haves and have-lesses but not quite as vast. Until Newcastle, of course.

Nothing stays the same, but for now that's what seems true.

Calling the premier league the most competitive league in the world is a daft tag line. No matter the league you will have those at the top and then the rest. None are really competitive.

You can predetermine where everyone will roughly finish. Because it’s mostly linked to turnover. Those who spend the most are towards the top. That’s not just football it is all sports. Maybe not US sports but they have a completely different system over there. There’s a reason Red Bull and Mercedes are way ahead of everyone, they spend more. If you class Ferrari as Man U.

It’s the false narrative of every team has a chance against the big boys. In reality they do not have much of a chance. You get the occasional upset like Rahman vs Lewis but overall you can predict who is going to win. I’ll wager Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal will all win this weekend.

Is the league tough? Undoubtedly. Tougher than 40 years ago? I’d say no. There was more levellers back then. Bad pitches. Lumping seven bells out of each other. Poor sports science.

It can still be the 'most competitive' without being competitive though.

You are all right. It is the most competitive (of top drawer football leagues) whilst not being truly competitive.

Yea it’s a daft debate.

There was a time when the league was won by the likes of derby, Leeds, villa, forest, arsenal and ourselves in the space of one decade

There was a time when Everton won the league.

Unfortunately it was before DVDs, but might be on VHS... or knowing Everton, probably Betamax.

These sorts if records are an indicator of success rather than actual success. Ultimately it's meaningless if we win nothing so I never care too much about these things. One for the record books sure but nobody will be bothered if it doesn't lead to a title or a CL

Its hard to go unbeaten so we were going to lose at some point. However, this is not the 1st time Dreamy has Jinxed games. Mods should have done their jobs in deleting it
