JJ - using anything beginning with "negr" in the UK is the equivalent of diving while you're already on a yellow card. You're giving someone the option of punishing you and you can't really complain if they do.

We're obv.not going to agree on that last point, because it goes to the argument about culture and intent in this specific case and I know we take different views on that.
 
The only thing clear about this appears to be that whatever was said, the meaning of the incident is not clear.

hang on.... so he said he didn't say "negro".... and we don't know what he said... he probably did use a word similar to "negro", but not the same word.. and a word in his mother dialect that, while similar to the English word "negro", isn't the same nor is it taken the same way.... possibly.. depending on intent and context... which we don't know other than it was probably used to wind Evra up - and winding up other players isn;t, as I understand it, in itself a proscribed action.

So who's justifyinh the word "negro" that Suarez said he didn't say and that no definitive evidence has been found to say otherwise?
 
Robin - of course it is, which is why Evra said what he said to the French media before Ferguson got involved, which in turn is why this charge should not have been brought at all.

The only news I've seen are the various articles in the British media which tell us that the word he may have used is negrito, negrita or negro. I've also seen where Suarez admitted to using a word that Evra's teammates call him every day. ( how he would know that I'll admit I do not know).

But nowhere have I read or heard that he specifically denied using the word "negro"

So, if this article is accurate, it seems to me Suarez thinks it's okay to use that word but not when there's an angry exchange.
 
I think he saw that negrito or what ever he said wound Evra up and then continued. Imo that doesn't make him a rascist but perhaps it is a rascist act (in England).

Reading what Suarez himself says, what Kenny says, what Poyet and suarez former coaches says is good enough for me whatever the FA says.

In that article it says Evra intially says "Don't touch me you, South American" to which Suarez replies "Porque(why) Negro?"

In my eyes if Suarez is a racist because of that, then so is Evra, especially backed with his you only booked me because im black comment to the ref.
