The Suarez/Evra Racism Row

If John Terry isnt charged aswell, I think will actually give up on football.
We should boycott all our Premier League games if that happens. That cunt was clearly caught on camera, yet there's not a shred of evidence against Suarez. WTF.
Did you two miss Suarez admit he knows what Evra took offence to ?

The Chelsea groundsman (in the previous evra race claim) was also charged and was found totally innocent so lets just wait and see what happens before the lynching/apologies take place.
Firstly it wasnt Evra that made that claim. it was United staff.

Secondly it was Evra that said he heard nothing racist from the groundsman, thereby exonerating him.
Weird, why did he start fighting with him then?

Hey lads.
Evra hasnt done anything wrong. And dont tell me Suarez doesnt know the connotations of the word regardless of the version of the word used.
I dont really like the direction some of the posters are taking. And i REALLY dont like the sentiment that 'we hope he gets off so it doesnt affect our season'
If......IF Suarez did it and IF he's found guilty the hes a racist cunt. And regardless of how good a footballer he is I wouldnt fucking support him anymore.

I have no idea.

A quick google though :

Evra was expected to argue to the commission that he was provoked by Bethell, who had himself been charged with improper conduct and using abusive language aggravated by reference to nationality and/or race. An independent commission subsequently cleared him, ruling that the FA did not have disciplinary jurisdiction over the groundsman because Chelsea had failed to inform him that he was subject to FA rules.

The FA went on to charge Chelsea "for their failure to include the required provisions in his employment contract" and with "failing to ensure that Bethell conducted himself in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from any one or a combination of racist and/or abusive and/or provocative conduct and/or language".

That charge appears to hinge on evidence to be heard from Phelan, a key witness as Evra claims he did not hear any racist comments during the incident. Chelsea have consistently denied there was any racist element to Bethell's conduct.

No. I just found this article.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/story/_/id/793670/ce/uk/?cc=5739&ver=global

Seems he gets abused a lot does our Patrice
I'm sorry Jack but i dont see the need to post that..... from what Suarez himself said he did make comments which now seem to be along racist/colour tack.... Evra isnt lying is he.... its just whether Suarez meant them in the way they were obviously taken. Posting that why? To make Evra the bad guy or the boy who crys wolf or some kind of super-sensitive racist campaigner....

I just dont get it.

I dont like Evra none but if it turns out that he was racially abused then it is bang out of order and he is spot on to report it.

Just my tuppence worth like....
Im on record as saying that if Luis is guilty he should be punished.

To be honest I havnt seen any quotes on what he said exactly in Uruguay.

Im just finding it difficult to believe that a guy was racially abused ten times during a match, but waited until after he had given an interview to Franch tv, to report the matter to the referee.

And incidentally, he said in that interview that he wasnt going to make a big thing out of it.

As regards him exonerating the Chelsea groundsman, why did he let it get to a hearing in the first place?

Spot on Rosco ...

As for Suarez if convicted therefore being an unsupportable racist Oncy .... I'm not sure that that is a measured response to it, people do and say stuff they shouldn't all the time... In my eyes at least there has to be the chance of some kind of forgiveness.

Why didn't Evra stop the FA from investigating a fight in the tunnel after a game ?

Does he have that power ?

Honestly I wish people wouldn't try to revise history to attempt to completely discredit Evra, let the fucking process go ahead and lets see what comes of it. Theres a lot of ridiculous shit being said.

I'm fairly sure Suarez knew exactly what he was doing & exactly what his defence would be and was confident he could pull it off. I just don't think he bargained for the English press. My Mrs tells me it's not a racist term in Spanish, however it may sound........and that I suspect he knew very well.

Apart from the mesmeric skill and goals theres little i see to like in the boy.
I guess were in days now where we cant afford to care about character when signing players.
🙁

So the announcement is made and the first thing everyone jumps on here is whether John Terry will get charged as well.

Hold on a fucking minute.

So if Terry gets charged that in some way lessens the blow does it?
Or if he doesn't get charged, then we can play the victim card again can we? It makes Suarez less of a racist if Terry's not charged does it?

WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT JOHN TERRY. One of our players has effectively just been charged with being a racist, and unless he, the club, and some high-profile, highly-paid crowd of Lawyers canf ind a way for the FA not to throw the book at him, he and we are fucked.

That's the issue. Move the fuck on from John Terry people and worry about getting our own house in order first.

Can anyone tell me exactly what Suarez said in his interview in Uruguay. As far as I can gather he said something like " I called him something that his team mates call him every day" Somebody then went on to say that for example the term "Negrito" can have different connotations in different countries. All of a sudden people seem to think that that was the word Suarez used.
What difference does it make Jack?
He's been charged. That means there is evidence he racially abused Evra. Otherwise why charge him?

I would still like someone to answer the question, and have we reached a stage now where if someone is charged with an offence they are automatically guilty?

Ha - like nobody has ever been charged for something then acquitted .

I'm in disbelief.

You seem to want to hold it against Evra that he didn't manage to stop an FA investigation into a fight in a tunnel after a game. It's ridiculous to suggest that. He didnt make the complaint and no player can tell the FA what to investigate. He was called as a witness and gave a fair account.

the desire to make him a villain for that is curious

I disagree. I think he went fishing and caught a much bigger fish than he planned to. For me, unless someone is out and out racially abusing someone and ideally the ref/cameras catch them at it, it is a very blurred line.

I don't think he is a racist, he just tried to wind Evra up. And it seems to have worked much better than he thought.

FFS the guy was charged with racial abuse. I presume both parties were interviewed the same as Evra and Suarez have been. All he had to do was say there was no racial abuse and THAT charge would have been dropped.

Lets get this straight. If Suarez is guilty I want to see him punished accordingly, but thereseems to be an attitude of guilty till proven innocent here. And fuck it Im not having that.

Add that to your disbelief!

People are putting words in Suarez's mouth from an interview, that he didnt say.

Im off to bed.

I guess we'll theow ourselves of that bridge when we get there eh?
I think if hes charged and found guilty id find it hard to support him doing anything again. But then I hated Rafa and still wanted him to win games so who knows.
Hopefully hes exonerated and I can just think hes a whiney sulky cunt rather than a racist one.

Ryan, I think people are pointing to John Terry because if he is not charged (and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't) while Suarez is, despite there being evidence of Terry making racist comments, opposed to much less evidence of Suarez doing likewise, then it would add credence to the suggestion that there is a bit of a conspiracy against Liverpool and a bias towards Terry and those involved with England. Which is not something I necessarily believe in. The conspiracy part, I mean. The rest is just common knowledge.

Yeah, was just going to say unless he admitted to it.

There was nothing smarmier, more disgusting and more brown-nosery(!?) than Nick Collins at the England press conference the other day...

"John, I've known you for many years. You're not a racist, are you?"
