The Skullflower "How Well Shit Are We ?" Thread

For the same reason we spent similar money on any player, Kenny & co believed in him & thought the fee was worth it.

Your argument is we signed a world class player, yes we did, however there was very little, if any, real competition, & I think if any bigger established CL clubs had been interested we'd not have gotten him.

Suarez was a gamble. Yes it paid off, but it easily may not have done.

Spurs were the only club in for him other than us & would've signed him had Harry not been advised he was too similar to VDV. He was hardly regarded in the same regard he is now.

Why would we be spending 20M on "gambles that may not have paid off"?

I dunno ask whoever bought Aqualani

Sunny answered my question brilliantly.

The return to trying to compete was always going to have to happen in stages. First we have to get fourth spot, then and only then can we hope to kick on to the next stage.

Then we need to see the Financial Fair Play rules applied robustly, if those two things happen, we could find ourselves in a great position, but don't expect miracles for the next few years, we just need to cement ourselves back as a top four team, which is not going to be easy.
