I've said it until the fucking letters on this keyboard are about to fade away, but we need(ed) more world class players in attack and a midfielder who can control the game.

There's some typical shite being spouted about this game from those interested in self-aggrandizement, and who are no doubt basing their opinions on highlights from the game. Compare us in recent years where we went to places like Stoke and got bullied. Yesterday we were horrifically unlucky, and on another day would have won the game at a canter. 20 shots to 3. I think our midfield must have done a more than reasonable job when we achieved 60% possession at the Britannia too.
 
Obviously I get the Tongue in cheek nature of the thread but Skully is right in that we could have spent our money much more effectively

We should of course pursue world class players - that goes without saying. The reality of whether they will actually come here is somewhat more sobering. We cannot afford the wages some clubs can and we don't even have UEFA cup, never mind Champions League football, to offer. Have a bit of patience. We're rebuilding after the club declined to point of near bankruptcy and scrabbling around for bargain basement buys. The club was raped and pillaged by the two cunts. The new owners have been in place for less than 12 months. For fucks sake we lost a game in which we were unlucky and victims of our own poor finishing - which does need addressing I agree. If people think we are going to achieve instant overnight success they are wrong. It's going to take a lot of hard work over a long season. One defeat is not catastrophic especially given we were also hampered by some dubious refereeing decisions. The squad has improved significantly - not to the point it needs to be but it's improved nonetheless. The competition is tough as well but I'm confident in a top three finish.

Right. And buying Suarez was what, a fluke? We tricked him into thinking he was coming to a Champions League club did we?
 
Suarez was a gamble. Yes it paid off, but it easily may not have done.

Spurs were the only club in for him other than us & would've signed him had Harry not been advised he was too similar to VDV. He was hardly regarded in the same regard he is now.

As I said we should pursue top players Ryan. Landing them isn't so easy. It worked with Suarez with others it may not
 
Ryan - it honestly seems to me that you've expected us to go from 'shit' (Roy) to 'phenomenal' within less than a year. Lighten up mate, there was a massive change with Kenny - and now the team has been built well enough to get 4th minimum. Once that is accomplished, I'll also be disappointed if we don't attract 'bigger names' next summer. Until then, I'll try and be happy if Downing plays great but doesn't get a goal, or Adam creates and scores one game and is poor the next etc ... Sheesh mate, smile!
