The search for a new DM

Well that also ignores that we have both Thiago and Bajcetic, and neither of those are donkeys (somebody just posted Badger's stats vs Lavia, I have to say I was very surprised how close there were). So yes a better, specialist DM is desperately needed but that's to elevate us to PL challengers. We'll still be in the top 4 mix, and favourites for the EL, even without one.

They are both good choices but one is coming back from a big injury at 19 and other is always injured, think would be reckless for them to be seen as anything other than fall backs. On the current state of play, I’m glad we still have them though…

Yup.

FSG have had a relatively easy ride due to Klopp papering over the cracks but all that's done now.

The only issue is that they probably don't give a shit.
Oh they will when they get protests bigger than the Glazers.

Less than 3 weeks. Tick tock.

It won't get that bad because we still have tards maintaining that it's just the way the cookie crumbles and they've done nothing wrong.

I think that only holds if we get 2/3 players in..

But what do us amateur forum scouts know?

Realistically one of the few benefits of FSG is operational nous, a quality which has dwindled ever since the title win. Without that what are you left with?

Low budgets, apathy, and an acceptance that fourth is good enough.

If FSG are only selling a minority stake then they get to get their shit in order yesterday. It's never been easier to become a regular Europa League side or to fall further still.

Interestinly Monaco have signed a young 20 year old DM, .... could it be that they are about to sell Yusuf Fofana to someone ?

I thought we had European wide databases on players and were data masters at video review and had a file on hundreds of players across Europe.

It fucking astounds me that the club thought that a cranky German retiree who allegedly specialised in unearthing cheap young talent for mid table Bundesliga teams was the right man to navigate our way through a pivotal transfer window, and at least three of our top targets, Caicedo, Lavia and Mac Allister were high profile young players playing in the PL.

The relaxed laws on signing from South America means we should have been setting up a stronger scouting network for the last 2 years. I doubt we've done that.

If we’re not going to buy a decent #6 in this window, how about going back in for Khephren Thuram and playing him at LCM in front of MacAllister at #6? His size and athleticism will partially compensate for Macca’s small stature and this will at least force Klopp to play Gakpo at false 9 rather than LCM:

Diaz/Jota—-Gakpo—-Salah/Doak
—-Thuram/Jones—Szoboszlai—-
————-MacAllister—-(Trent)—-

What about Vermeeren from Royal Antwerp?

Seems to be the next breakout star from Belgium

Been hearing about him. Our scouting/recruitment history probably means there's zero chance of such move happening. 😳 Seeing that Bloom owns the current Belgium leaders, they would have insights of the Belgium market and connections, so Brighton would probably be his next stop (similar to them picking up Verbruggen from Anderlecht)

Get Florentino Luis. He'll be better than all of them

2 games into the season, the preferred central midfield pairing seems to be Kokcu and Neves - we might have a chance?

Interestingly, he only started 25 games in the league, avg. 65 mins but started all 10 CL games, avg. 86 mins - guess it's cos they need more protection in challenging games (as compared to the domestic ones).

We need a specific type of defensive midfielder who is the quarterback type stays deep near the defence line has the legs to cover for the full backs when they overlap or invert into the midfield.
Some of the ones linked are not used to that role they play the double pivot role with another central midfielder with a playmaker in front of them .
