The Ramification of Madrid's 'loss' last night

Besides the fact it probably means the Mancs will draw 'em and progress to the semis, I think it means they'll be looking for a new manager next year. Now granted, the Spanish press is reporting today that Pellegrini will stay on for another year but I think that depends heavily on if he wins La Liga, which will most likely come down to the game at home against Barca (Even if he does win the league, he may be fired as we've seen happend with Capello most recently).

If this does happen, could they go for Rafa?

He's finished Wiz. Del Bosque won the league and champions league and still got sacked. They gave Pellegrino 250m of new talent and he's out the champions league and kings cup and 2nd (technically regardless of how sky are reporting it) in la liga.
Not a chance he'll be there next year. Unless they paste Barcelona. Which they wont.

last year the headline would have read The Ramosification of Madrid's 'loss' last night

😛

I'd have him, and they can take Rafa or Juventus can. WHoever just want rid.

I think he's gone too - but that means imo that they'll go for Rafa.

They are 1st technically (I think due to GD) but it will be 'officially' decided after the Barca game because if I'm not mistaken, tie breaker is decided by head to head record.

Why wasn't Xabi playing yesterday? I know it's probably wrong but I'm really glad he's had an average season ...

Interesting IGot....Coconuts - I think he may be a very interesting candidate (Never rated him that highly)
Xabi was suspended. And yeah he's been really average this season (lol).
Barcelona won the first game 1-0 meaning on head to heads they are top. If Real win 2-0 at home they would go top. Goal difference has nothing to do with it. If the league ended today Barcelona win facto.

He has been given a vote of confidence.

Wizzy: Alonso was suspended.
Vote of Confidence? Ha ha with Madrid that means nothing.

Oh. He wouldn't have made a difference. The team is not build around what he does best - so he's been invisible most of the year. Kaka, despite a few brilliant games, has not been that good either. Benzema - ha ha, been poor too. Ronaldo and Ebola have been their best signings.

Sorry didnt make myself clear, I think it's pretty much confirmed that with that vote of confidence, Pellegrini's pretty much gone. Only question is when.

We won't re-sign Alonso. Might as well not worry about that.

Vantage - I think you're wrong. It's still, along with Barca, one of three biggest positions for a Spanish manager. He'll take it if he's offered.

Aren't they after Mourinho?
Still, Rafa knows Real, and they might want a Spanish manager this time around.

I REALLY hope they go for him.

Don't know why I bother

If Real do come in for Rafa at the end of the season they are going to have to compensate us big time 😉

He was pretty much gone from day 1. I believe was always regarded as second / third / fourth choice.

They've looked excellent in La Liga recently and I reckon they might pip Barca for the title. Still, he'll be off and they'll be looking to get someone like Mourinho.
If they do come and get him, I will consider that compensation enough. And in fact repayment for bending us over with Mcmoneyman and Owen. Debts repaid slates clean.

Bollocks. I have just realised that this statement could be contrued as further evidence that I am the convicted horsefucker

I'm a bit confused as to why some people have Pelligrini as their number 1 choice to replace Rafa.

He's taken on a top side, been furnished with Ronaldo, Kaka, Alonso, Benzema etc, and still managed to get them knocked out of the cup and Champions League at the first knockout stage.

Sure, they're challenging for La Liga, but given the star-studded squad at his disposal, Madrid fans (for once) are surely justified in thinking that's the least he should be doing.

If Rafa, or anyone else, had been backed to the tune of 250m (+ wages) over the summer to boost a squad already featuring many 25m+ stars, he'd be under serious pressure to produce tangible results else all on here would be lambasting him.

Quite why Pelligrini challenging for one competition with a squad boasting more world superstars than any other has some wanting him to rescue us I don't know. Wenger is challenging for the Premier league (and Champions league) with a squad of young players he's developed with no net spend for years, not mentioning the aesthetic merits of his side. Yet the suspicion remains he'd be overlooked here even if available.

Real needs a manager to win them the CL. Rafa fits the bill.

LFC need a manger to win the league or anything. Not sure many will fit that bill except Fergie & Wenger & Mourhino.
