Just for that......................

Liverpool have just signed a new centre half. Can the scandinavian lads provide comment please?

I almost fell down my chair.

World class athlete, powerful presence, goal-getter and Messi-like on the ball.

I wanted Kenny to have more time because he was one of our greatest managers who won trophies and bought brilliantly and made me proud for 6 years first time round. He also won the league with a team he brought up from the second division, albeit spending heavily. I still had faith he could steer us back on course based on past evidence. My patience for Rodgers is tempered by the fact that I'm not sure on what basis I'm meant to believe in him. I like that we have good youngsters being given a chance and he seems to have some good ideas. Time will tell, we have no say over the matter, I hope I'm proven badly wrong and he turns into the greatest manager we've ever had and we name a stand after him in 25 years.

I wanted Kenny to stay because I was hoping he could do what he did in that first 6 years ... I still don't know if it was right to fire him.

No, I'm interested to hear more about your reliable sources who get everything wrong.

Oh right, soz about Sky Italia and RMC. I'll see what the Cork Gazzette is writing about it and post that and not use " foreign media outlets".

Hansern, out of curiosity, where did the Eriksen rumour origin from?

PS Don't mind Ross, he's only irritated because of the lack of focus. That's why he likes numbers so much, they don't fuck around changing the subject all the time.

We were linked with him in November too btw ... it seems he's a player we've looked at it, as have most big clubs (which we aspire to be obviously as we're not currently!)
The fact Rodgers has already had the chance to look at him first hand (back in his Chelsea days) at least indicates that he could be well aware of his talents too.

Bold players - can you tell me a lot about 'em.

Red players - can you tell more than the little I've read in the youth thread about them, and their potential?

LOL, I'll try, but Macca is probably more knowledgeable than me. Most of my impressions are second hand from following their progress on forums as I don't get to watch all that many of the games.

Jones: big tall centre half signed from Plymouth 18 months ago, I think he's 17. Very highly rated, good in the air etc. A bit of a Hyypia type I guess. Of course, judging a central defender's chances of progress is notoriously tricky because it's less about sheer ability than it is for someone like Sterling, who any idiot could see was going to make it.

Heaton: Jones's partner in defence for the u18s and youth cup team. Only 16, England youth international. Not seen him much, but has a big reputation. From my own impressions he's a hell of an athlete, though, really strong for his age and pacey. Looks to have every chance.

Lussey: 18 year old cultured midfielder, good leadership qualities, excellent passer, scores goals, fairly creative. Another England international. Significantly more talented than Coady, IMHO.

Dunn: real little midfield dynamo. Closest thing the academy has to a young Gerrard: intelligent, cute passer of the ball, very mobile, strong, scores goals, technically gifted, and like Gerrard has played all over the park for the u18s. Negatives are his injuries, which have plagued him the last year or so, and also possibly his attitude: I read on RAWK recently that the reason he was omitted from the last nextgen squad was that he'd been told to lose weight. Don't know how true that is but not great if it is true, really.

Ojo: prodigiously gifted attacking midfielder, only 15. Your best bet is to find the compilation of his I posted in the Youth team thread a few months ago. It'll only be a few pages back from the most recent posts. That says more than I could about his potential.

Rossiter: this one is almost all on reputation. Another 15 year old, captain of his England age group, appeared briefly in the last nextgen match. Seems to be a central midfielder with a great eye for a pass. Reputaton could hardly be greater: Fowler tweeted that he could be the next Gerrard, and Tony Barrett concurred, describing him as 'very special'. It's not a lot to go on, but you don't get praise like that for nothing: he's clearly held in v high regard at the academy.

Stuff Eriksen every time I've seen him play he hasn't been that good, that Fischer fella outshone him against Citeh the last time I saw Ajax play. The player we should sign is Wesley Sneijder WHY there is "absolutely no interest" according to Ayre baffles me, he's a genuine world class talent who at 28 is in his prime! In my opinion he would change the fortunes of Liverpool much like Cantona did for the Scum. 8M for him is an absolute bargain he's got experience, flair everything! the number 10 shirt is ready for him, we surely have the wages now Sahin and Cole are off the books so again I ask WHY haven't we signed him?

Agree. Why we can't try and get a proven world-class player who would improve everyone around him is beyond me. We might fail to get him but why can't we at least try. And don't give me that 'too old, wages too high' shit. He's in his prime.

Exactly QPR we're trying to get him at least they tried! It's bollocks a world class player right there in front of us, WANTS to play in England and we're still not trying, get him in Brendan! The game on sunday we we're crying out for someone like him why can't the owners and Brendan see it?

24-28 are the best years in my opinion and so he 's just coming out of his prime, plus he's hardly played for 6 months.

In 18 months when Sneijder has had 3 good games in his 100k+ a week 5 yr contract and is sat at home on his Xbox waiting for his next move and we've got zero money to sign that year's 'missing link', I will bring this thread back up.

Vidic hardly played for a year and half and still bossed our forwards until Sturridge came on, if your world class it doesn't matter how many games you've played and he most certainly is!

We signed Dalglish at 27. Gary Mac did not get worse at 28, he got better. Giggs and Scholes are about 50. Didn't seem to do Maldini any harm to be 28 etc etc etc

I bet you thought Reina would be great until he's 40 because Friedel is still playing too.

If you take a closer look at it you'll see different types of players peak at different ages. The more physically gifted they are the earlier it tends to be, the less technically proficient and intelligent they are the quicker they fall.

Mid twenties- just like Gerrard.

This is arguably the riskiest time for someone to sign Schneider

I think arguably is the key word in there. Someone will buy him and it will work out or it wont. We'll never know if that could have been us. He could end up in MLS in a year or he could be a world-beater for someone. Remember the media wankfest when Spurs signed Van De Vaart? One year later he's disappeared.

That's not a great argument in favour of Shneider

And how do you think our mega money contract offer will look if he's gone after a year and we're left footing the bill for him to be in the MlS?

That first point doesn't even make sense. And I've been taking a close look since the 70s thanks. Enough with 'I know more than you know' bollocks.

It doesn't make sense deliberately because your points don't make any fucking sense.
