So John Arne Centre Back is coming in on trial? We haven't actually signed him? Is the fact that were only giving him a trial not suggest that hes not going to be that great to begin with?

I'm just saying I would like us to have more ambition than buying potential all the time. And I'll tell you what, if we put one world-class player in that midfield we would be a shitload better off. The owners have had their fingers burnt with huge deals for players on both sides of the pond. They wont be doing that again, but I don't trust our scouts or our management team to buy the right players for piddling money to make us great again.

Your definition of ambition is simply wasting money, how much better would we get with that one signing? Simply 'better' isnt enough.

I want us to win the league. Adding potential is what we need to do right now for me and we need more of it while we set about ridding our 'better players'

I think if we're looking at investment on players of $300m or so over the next four years to make us 'competitive', it would probably be better for the owners to invest it in building a time-machine and transporting all the fans back to 1977 for a few grand each.

Well, the people who know their stuff seem to think we're in contact with Ajax regarding a summer move for Eriksen.
Apperantly he's got 1 year left on his deal and he'll move on.

Wheter or not we'll sign him is another matter as half of Europe wants him but he fits the profile of the nr 10 Rodgers will buy come summer.

Interesting. Is he really as good as he's made out though Kris. Granted I've only seen him a few times but I've not been overly impressed. I mean he's not a shit player by any means but he's not world beater either from what I've seen.

I think he's great, but he does strike me as a risk and exactly the sort of player who would come over here and be a passenger. Not that I wouldn't be excited though if we were genuinely linked, I just have some concerns about his suitability to the English game, but then what would I know. I thought the same about Silva.

I believe Forren will be a good signing. He has made steady progress a few seasons and has what it takes to cope with PL level I reckon. But I thought Coates looked promising too, and players need to play to take that next step.

Ha, and I thought Morientes would be nothing other than a roaring success in the EPL

How would you rate him in comparison to what we've got mate? What style etc?

No he isnt. Not as good as he was a couple of seasons ago, but a very good centre back.

My main concern with Forren is his pace.

He's bang average mate.

He hit the headlines cos he was tall, commanding and all that. But he's a fairly average footballer. He continually gets done positionally by smart forwards, and he's woeful on the ball.

There's a reason why he's still playing at Fulham.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one mate.
The fact that he's Norwegian and has played some amazing games for the national side makes me a bit biased in this matter 🙂

Look i was a bit over the top with the "shite" remark, but he's not a top club centre-back in my view. Anyway...

I've seen alot of him this season, and always thought he looked very similar to Agger in playing style. Good technique, very good header of the ball(both defensively and on offensive corners), and a great passer. Also like our boy Agger he always gives 110% in every game. Unsure about his pace.

Was by far the best defender in the Norwegian Premier League last season...but is he good enough? No idea...

So not that similar to Agger then. I hope you're right about his heading ability though, because that's exactly what our defence is lacking.

I think he is good and seem confident on the ball. He looks calm and makes the right choices most of the time. In my eyes he has more raw potential than i.e. Hangeland. I never were too crazy about him and Forren clearly is a better footballer. He has been outstanding in Norwegian league defensively. Strong tackler and good reading the game, which has compensated for his pace. But this is a step up. Norwegian league has been poor the last few seasons (even for their standards). So the big question is how good are you in the air when real men come flying in? I see people brand Agger as not good in the air, and i guess he is better than Forren. He is a lighter version of Agger maybe. What encourage me is that he has had strong progression even when playing inNNorway and he has taken his game to international level. He will have to keep adding to his game but I think he has the mentality to do that. I still would not expect to much instant impact from him and therefor it would probably make sense to nurse him in at Liverpool while Coates go on loan to get much needed matches under his belt.

I bet the Newcastle fans will love the Ben Arfa quotes.
And to top it off QPR are highjacking the Remy deal.
