The not so Official January Transfer Rumour Thread

Cutting your nose to spite your face comes to mind regarding the mindset of some regarding Torres. Yes he messed up by going to that pit, but the guy is quality and I think everyone would agree with that. If we had the chance to get him back at that money it would be a "hell yeah" and let him prove to us that he made a huge cock up and should never have left in the first place....let him come back and return to the greatness that he was when he was here, yes I know he went off the boil and was a little lethargic about the place, but something tells me he must have had his head turned by the mob to be so like that

Maybe, but I'd rather we get in Messi for 23m and 60k per week.

We're not going to get him on a budget. So discussing the prospect of getting him at a bargain price is pretty pointless. If he leaves Chelsea, it will be for a wildly disproportionate fee, and it certainly won't be for a packet of chips to a club who might be considered a rival (yeah, I know we're shit, but still).

Torres is nowhere near as good as he was pre knee and hamstring injuries.... still a quality player but... not a worthwhile investment considering he will on huge money.

Even ignoring the fact that he's a cunt and that I'm enjoying seeing his career go into decline. On pure ability he's a shadow of the player he used to be. Even rafa is unable to save him. He's made torres play like at Liverpool but it's just not happening. His career is on the decline so no thanks.

Plus he's a cunt

Not sure about that, Del. They may quuite conceivably prefer getting £10 mill.for him even from a potential rival to getting bugger all for him at the end of his contract, not to mention bugger all out of him meanwhile.

BTW that stuff from other posters about his physical condition BTW is guesswork. Obv.any deal would be subject to a stringent medical and to sensible wage demands on his part, but which transfer isn't?

However, he must be on 150,000 a week (at least) at Chelsea. I don't think we'd want to pay him anything like that. Maybe half that given we don't know what he's capable of anymore.

I would love us to flirt with him unsettle him further though, just because those cunts did that to us. If BR is asked about him I'd like him to be fantastically enthusiastic about the prospect of bringing Torres back before saying, 'but, of course, he's not our player...'.

I would too. I don't buy the idea that he's shot his bolt physically. My bet is his problems are 100% in the mind - basically he's always known that he made a desperately poor decision and has regretted it from the start. As such he would fit FSG's "get a player with problems and solve them for him" criterion to a T.

This is complete nonsense JJ.

You can easily see he isn't as quick and strong as he was when he started with us. That isn't in the mind. Everyone that's worked with him has said the knee is an issue.

This pie in the sky nonsense that he'd suddenly turn back into what he was for 18 months of his ten year career simply by returning here is beyond stupid. That was his peak, he's not going to get back there - even though the miracle worker Benitez is his manager. It's pretty clear he wasn't happy here either too, so I don't know why anyone would think he'd suddenly be happy to come back.

I can never understand why people come up with convoluted bullshit theories to ignore the fact a player is simply past their peak.

Torres is still scoring at a reasonable clip - but we can get players that can do that for half the cost with the best part of their career ahead of them.

Sneijder was about to sign for Galatasaray but the natives don't like that his missus did a film that was disrespectful to Mohammed *peace be upon him* so they can't go there.

Because we're Liverpool?

Because he wants to play for a big club in the premier league..

He realizes Man U, Chelsea and Man City won't be in for him..

He is also prepared to take a huge cut in wages to make the move happen. He does not want to play in Turkey..

My answer covered all that 😛

Galatasaray have agreed terms with Internazionale star Wesley Sneijder according to NTV Spor.

Inter accepted Galatasaray's offer earlier in the week for a fee reported to be in the region of €8 million.

Sneijder will receive €5.3 million per-season with a €25000 per-match bonus. The Netherlands international is expected to arrive in Istanbul on 14-15 January 2013 to officially sign for the club.

Sexy movie scene ruins Sneijder move

By Isaac Ashe on Jan 10, 13 09:40 AM in Oddballs

WESLEY Sneijder's proposed transfer to Galatasary has been rumoured to have flopped - due to a sexy movie scene featuring his wife.
Inter Milan's Dutch international is after a move away from the San Siro, and it was rumoured that Turkish giants Galatasary were ready to swoop for the midfield maestro for six million Euro.
However following the news, footage of Sneijder's wife Yolanthe Cabou playing a Muslim woman that seduces a young teenager in the 2006 film Turkse Chich was distributed on the internet causing outrage in Turkey, and it now looks like the deal has now fallen through.

That clip is hilarious.

But the figures translate to a ridiculously low deal.

£6.5M up front + £85k a week (+ £20k per game)

Not for the first time, a lot of this "answers" points that weren't made in the first place. I don't suppose for a minute that Torres is the same physical specimen we had playing for us, which is why I didn't say that. What I don't accept is that he's totally washed out physically. There have been times when his all-round play, and even the odd goal, for Chelsea has made it clear that that's by no means the case.

Torres was unhappy in his last season and a bit because everybody was, under a dysfunctional regime which was taking the club off the rails. It would be true to say that others dealt with that more professionally than he did, and I don't know for sure that he'd be happy to come back (any more than you know the opposite) but, given that he had his best years here and other top sides look unlikely to come in for him, it really isn't the daft idea you're trying to make it seem. This is leaving aside the persistent rumours, denials of which are conspicuous by their absence, about what Torres is said to have told his current teammates on the subject.

If there are better buys out there, by all means let's go for them in preference to Torres. If.

You've effectively said a return here would make him the same player he was in his first season here, which is batshit crazy - because all his problems stem from being unhappy he left.

So we have saved Sahin's wages and Assaidi's too, oh and one or two of the kids, so who is coming in it's gone very quiet out there.
