I'm not talking about the greatest player per se, but who do you think at one point had the talent to rival that of Gerrard, Barnes, Dalglish etc who turned out to disappoint?
 
He wouldn't Be the best name for this but a solid runner-up if you will.

Craig Bellamy

Has frightening pace, an eye for goal, that dirty streak all the top guys have. But for reasons away from football, ie him being a nutter, he has never sustained it at the top level.
 
Stan Collymore.

I thought he was going to be better than Shearer. 🙁

I kind of agree with this. Bellamy on his day is one of the best strikers in the league. His performance for City at United in 09/10 was frightning and always stands out

As stated, his character has held back what could have been a career constantly at the highest level
 
Asprilla just after he scored the hat trick for Newcastle in Europe was having the season of his life.

He tore his hammy a week later that was that.

Real shame.
