The Mo Contract Saga

You don't think there's room for a "this is what you wanted" attitude from FSG? I think it's entirely plausible.

As for the "he'll definitely sign" viewpoint. If I was Salah, looking at the dithering over the contract and the complete lack of ambition since winning the CL and League, he'd be mad to not go to a PSG or City.

No, I dont think so. From a business point of view it makes no sense. And they are businessmen.

I know folks who achieve Henry Werner dont tend to be the most emotional type. But I cant help but feel there is an air of "You didnt want the super league, right? Let us see how much you enjoy life without the super league?" attitude. Maybe I am overreacting.

I think you are, mate. If we were owned by Roman Abramovich or the City owners then sure. But not by FSG. They dont have that sort of money were we are a play thing and something they could just throw away when tired of it. They're in it for the money and any decrease in value will be made by poor decisions but not in spite to prove a point. That just doesnt make sense from a business point of view.

The quotes are apparently 6-8 weeks old in regards to when the interview was done. So its not exactly "new" news and overacting might be a better word for a lot of the stuff in this thread if true. 😉

PSG seems the most likely choice. We would hold onto him another year if he wanted to join City on a free.
I suppose it comes down to what is motivating him. Money is obviously a factor as he seems to be holding out for a bigger pay deal than what we are seemingly prepared to offer. If it is just money then PSG would be an acceptable destination for him.
But if he is also motivated by success, by winning trophies and personal awards and increasing his status and legacy in the game, then City might be a better destination.
Man City look far more likely to gain European success on top of domestic dominance than PSG, who look more like the Harlem globetrotters than a serious football club.
Or he could run down his contract and go to Real and have a similar chance at success but at a more renowned club

I'm really fucking bored of this saga now
To be honest I know what you mean. I felt like that too. It was getting boring. However I have to confess - From a media observation point of view it’s now becoming fascinating. I don’t think LFC lose out either way really. @momoWASboss reckons 100mill. Ok. A bit shit because I love the dude. Then I think - hey look at what happened with Coutinho… . New contract? Ace. It’s funny and interesting watching the media report on it. Nearly every single pundit have often and repeatedly said "Just pay him what he wants".

In my mind that's such a moronic throwaway comment you could make regarding decisions like these. My favourite one that is always saying it is Jenas. He says it a lot. Everytime he does he looks more and more like a complete fucking div. Shearer and to a lesser extent Micah Richards as well. You know..... Decisions that involve ten's of millions of pounds/euros/dollars/... Not to mention all that comes along with such a decision. Image rights, advertising. I mean WTF?

"Just pay him what he wants" - It's fucking laughable. Yeah like it's that straight forward....

If they do sell him for say 100mill to PSG or City etc - What do you think the media shit storm will be? The fan backlash? You can almost smell the hope and glee coming from the media if it happened.

Salah is being a bit cute with his comments regarding his new contract. "I'm not asking for anything crazy" - Ok what is asking for then?

As I said in my mind, LFC don't really lose out either way. I'd prefer him to stay of course but I'll be watching with interest. Personally (based on nothing really apart from my own observations) I'm about 80% sure he'll sign. You never know though...

It is mad to hear it. If he wants half a mill then give it to him. Yea sound. Give 1/20th of the club’s total income to a single player. Seems reasonable.

I'm thinking that too if Diaz comes in..

However Donavian will think we are bringing Diaz in to partner Salah in the long term.

To quote Shaggy... "It wasn't me"... I was not claiming that Liverpool wanted to sign Suarez to partner Toress up front. That came from a hell of a lot of Liverpool supports, and I believe in some part one or two who worked for the club, who were upset at Torres leaving.

I would even wager that If this forum was about back then that supports here would have been touting that very line

All I claim was that It was the sale of Babel which clinched us being able pay for,and to sign Suarez and that it was not due to the sale of Torres or any money from that sale

He's probably asked for something really unreasonable and out of the question, like we buy some decent players and prepare for next season.

my guess is that it probably is stalling on his kind of thing rather than his own wages, sadly.

Salah is clearly personally ambitious, and he knows he can get paid a huge amount at other clubs anyway, so why would he choose to play at a club where he may be playing with a decreasing number of top players and may be less likely to win things?

Good to see more of you coming around to the fact he's obviously getting off.

Hansern will still be expecting him to turn out for us though when he's halfway through his debut for PSG, like.

Coming back out at half time for PSG.. rips off the shirt to reveal a Liverpool shirt underneath and says "Hey fuckers... I'm back!!!"

He’s just making sure everyone know it’s on the club admin rather than him.

Just enjoy this current crop we have here including Klopp while they are still here, just glad got to witness an amazing crop together for such a long period.

And he’s joined either side by Stone Cold Steve Austin and Rock wearing the latest Nike kit. Thus breaking internet social medial records. Like it…

Worst case scenario, he runs his contract down. Then instead of rebuilding with a decent chunk ala Coutinho, we have a year of him, then nothing.

That has to taken into consideration. I’m convinced that won’t happen though. He’s not a cunt.

I’ll dish out a fair share of I told you so when he signs a new deal.
You’ll claim he’s been threatened to sign by big Pharma I reckon.
