The midfield

That's not the point!!!

The point is City had problems AS WELL.

We had a better team and squad than City last season and should have won the league. No amount of bitching about oil money will convince me otherwise.

Our problems were bigger though for the formation we like to play. Diaz's signing made all the difference to us and it's the first time under Klopp we had strength in depth up front. The damage to our compaign was done in the first half of the season when we didn't have him.

Nobody thought we would be in for a shout for the title after coming 4th the season before. Most people thought Chelsea would be the most likely challengers. So no, we shouldn't have won the league considering where the team was this time last year.

Unless people wanna see Fab Hendo Milner for the next few months then yes we need a new midfielder.

Ideally someone who won't get injured on first day of training or who's name starts doesn't with Georginio.

Grealish only plays on the left though and Sterling could play anywhere across the front 3. Same with Jesus.
Feels to me that they've lost a lot of the flexibility they had regarding the personnel on the bench.

Yea, fingers crossed that turns into an issue for them but Alvarez is supposedly able to play on the right and Foden/Silva seem to have some flexibility still. Imo it’ll be two injuries to any one position before you’ll even notice a difference to City (except fullback and keeper)

I thought we'd challenge for the league and only idiots thought we wouldn't given that the reason we didn't the prior year no longer existed.

I sense some hyperbole. We played a motivated side away last weekend. Still doesn't excuse dropping 2 points but it is what it is.
We'll see how it affects us in the long run.
What bothers me more right now are all these fake stories about midfielders we're supposedly buying.

Yea but you have to say that they signed Sterling’s replacement a year ahead of him leaving in Grealish. Fernandinho was replaced ages ago with Rodri and was just a squad player who they’ve sort of replaced with Phillips. They’ve signed 2 forwards to replace Jesus and a year later than expected Aguero but they had Sterling in the meantime. Zinchenko is the slightly odd one as it leaves them a bit short but probably no shorter than we have been with Trent.

A one transfer window comparison doesn’t work when they’re working across several windows. Watch them replace KDB a year ahead of time too with someone fantastic.
Bellingham incoming. City already have a good relationship with Dortmund.

i didn’t want to say it but yea and it has been mentioned before on the forum that Chelsea will also be shopping for Jorginho / Kante replacements soon. May well be out of our salary range next summer

I wouldn’t class Salah as a striker but a wide forward who scores lots of goals. Like Mahrez.

That’s what makes me think we did something crazy in training last week. The difference in the two sides was chalk and cheese.

I didn't say Salah was a striker, but he scores a shitload more goals than Mahrez so this is a fucking stupid conversation anyway.

Once we know we aren’t spending any of our emergency cash we’ll sign Bellingham for next season. Just like we did with Keita.

Steven Gerrard is one of the most gifted strikers of the ball I’ve ever seen. Played as an attacker under Benitez. Would you call him a striker?

Don't like the dictionary definition? I don't give a fuck. I'll continue to call him a striker, you do whatever you want.

Like Keita
I've seen Keita play for Liverpool and he's not overhyped-- just not frequently available. But I'll agree to disagree with those who think he's overhyped as I do with those who think Bellingham is the next best thing.

No I mean klopp had a long term plan when he bought keita. It was the opposite of a panic buy, he waited a year, but I don't think we got value for money.
