Klopp is one of those rare things principled man, full of integrity. He won't throw the owners under the bus. The coffers are empty with the club increasing their out going wages. We would be crazy not to get Sane, but he would be expensive cover for Diaz. We know Klopp loves him though.
However, I just don't get how he club does not seem to address our needs for midfield - even Klopp's explanation is just fucking lame. Honestly I am just lost.
In reality we’ve replaced Wijnaldum with a combination of Thiago, Milner and Curtis Jones at LCM. Upgrade all things considered? Not sure.
He is called moron.
You’ve answered your own question. Who would buy a cripple? What I don’t understand is the contact renewal rumours for Keita. I’d let him go for nothing in 12 months.
Well the answer is clearly yes - you only have to look at the win percentage when he plays, esp. with Fabs in the team too. It's almost like extreme Woke revisionism on here whenever he's out. I find some comments on here churlish and based on an ingrained bias rather than on the facts/statistics. Our real issue isn't the games Thiago misses - it's that we don't have quality cover and lose what he brings to our performances when he's out.
PL in his first season (24 games + 1 x non-starter on the bench + 4 CL +2 FAC = more minutes than Hendo)
Last season (25 games + 1 x non-starter on the bench + 10 CL + 4 FAC with only Fabs & Hendo from our midfielders playing more mins).
He played a total of 30 games for us the first season and 39 games last season. I'll take that with Milner/Keita/Carvalho/Hendo (with Elliott R) / Morton or whoever covering for FAC/LC and when injured (13 PL games first season + 12 PL games last season).
Whilst there is no doubt that Thiago is more susceptible to muscular injuries than most, when reviewing his injury record we also need to accept that 2 x Covid (7 games) and that horrific challenge by Richarlison, responsible for 17 games out, make a huge difference to the games missed (comprising 24 of the 61 games missed).
Once we get a new midfielder I'd put my house on him being interchangeable with either of the two CM slots and being better cover/competition.

Winning a quadruple of major trophies this season has been described by many - including Liverpool's own players - as almost impossible. But if they do achieve it, a significant reason for that will be the form of one man in recent weeks: Thiago Alcantara.
The Spain midfielder has stepped up at just the right time for the Reds, producing man-of-the-match performances on an almost weekly basis as Jurgen Klopp's side chase success in the Premier League and Champions League to add to their FA Cup and League Cup wins.
Thiago was sensational in both legs against Villarreal as Liverpool reached another European final, helped the Reds to the FA Cup on Saturday and has been consistently excellent in the Premier League as his side have kept up the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table.
After a slow start to his career at Anfield, Thiago has now found his very best form, which is helping to propel an already exceptional Liverpool side to the next level.
Last Season with 3 games to go :
Thiago's current statistics speak for themselves.
Since a 1-0 home defeat by Chelsea in March 2021, Thiago has started 36 games for Liverpool and the Reds have lost just once - a 1-0 home defeat by Inter Milan in the Champions League last 16 second leg last month, when they progressed anyway.
Of the 10 Premier League games Liverpool have failed to win this season, Thiago was missing for six of them.
In the 2-0 win against Everton in the Merseyside derby recently, Thiago completed more passes than the entire Toffees team, while in his sublime display against Villarreal in the first leg of the Champions League he had a passing accuracy of 96%.
Those passes were not just over five yards, either, with many coming in the final third and nine long-ball efforts going straight to their target.
"I think sometimes those stats can be misleading - the 96%, 98% from players who give it five, 10 yards," former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch said during BT Sport's coverage of the Villarreal game.
"He wins the ball and he's hitting it 30, 40 yards or he's playing it through the lines. He's not someone who passes sideways and backwards."
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says Thiago's football intelligence in particular has shone through in recent games.
"On the pitch it's there for everyone to see," he said.
Ox isn't going to play again, Jones wants to stay. Besides we don't have 25 players over 21 anyway. So only way I see us bringing someone in, in midfield, is if we get rid of Ox and Jones first.
Thiago when alive is probably better than any midfielder who donned the red shirt, let alone members of the Brexit midfield. Thiago's injury record might not be an issue in isolation but when combined with Fabinho's increased susceptibility against counterattacks, and a clear decrease in form from Hendo and Milner due to age, we have a problem. Yes, last year's midfield almost got us the quad, but the Brexit midfield got us the big two. The Brexit midfield had the advantage of a prime front three but last year's squad had the benefit of a quality backup in attack in Diaz which the PL and CL winning did not have.
I also feel that the Brexit midfield could have gotten us more wins against the top 4 last season- particularly City and Chelsea. A youngish Gini was invaluable in those games. Gini might not have been elite like Thiago but was technically very good, knew how to keep the ball, drive us forward, and most importantly was always available. We have not adequately replaced that.
Plettenberg was one of the first to break the Mane to Bayern story and is generally considered very credible. I have no problem with us selling Keita, but we'll probably get a paltry sum. Perhaps this means we sign someone before the window closes.
Keita is back with the squad. Thiago is out for 3 more weeks which includes an international break. So we are missing Ox and Jones who didn’t really contribute last season.
We probably want him to take a pay cut on the new dealWhat can be be unhappy about? He gets paid loads. He plays when he's fit. We win stuff. The only thing it can be is either a) he's finally realised he isn't built for this league, or b) he's sick of being told he's shit, because he's shit.
That's what he seems to be suggestingdeparture this window?
We probably want him to take a pay cut on the new deal
It’s like Declan Rice said jokingly to Mark Noble “I’ve added a couple of years to your career”, might have been a joke but it was true. We need them young legs to help the older lads.
We probably want him to take a pay cut on the new deal
Looks like you're trying to convince yourself. Naby and Thiago cannot be relied upon. The midfield was our weakest link last season, we needed a CM, and it showsKeita is back with the squad. Thiago is out for 3 more weeks which includes an international break. So we are missing Ox and Jones who didn’t really contribute last season.
I like this.. 😀Oh I pray the club have someone to replace him. It shouldn't cost 50m this time to find someone weak, shit and made of Weetabix however.
That's what he seems to be suggesting
What can be be unhappy about?
Given how ruthless autocorrect is, I’d not be surprised. The contract extension offer was addressed to Naby Keira?
