what's the deal with benteke? seems to have stalled, but still very talented and young enough to improve. his value will have gone down, cheeky bid? say 12m?

Over-hype during a good spell at the start got to his head. Rodgers was right when he moaned about our centre halves being dominated by a striker who mostly sunk after such a "rousing" performance. He's young enough to develop, though; he does needs to stop believing that he's already the big thing (similar to Andy Carroll).

He looked proper lazy yesterday, he gave up in one attack and stood around in an offside position because he'd lost the ball. If he'd moved back onside, he'd have capitalised as Villa had regained possession. By the time he realised, he was too far behind Sunderland's backline to do anything.

Benteke reminds me of Heskey, Heskey was brilliant for us in his first season (mainly half season) banging in the goals and then we never saw anything like that consistancy again.

Not saying Benteke is shite but hes massively over rated, he looks or looked a decent finisher but hes not quick or good enough to be an attacker for our style of play.

You know you get these hunks of meat like Sagbo and Altidore who are lucky to score 5 goals a season, basically just there to be a nuisance with their strength, hold the ball up/win headers/score the odd goal etc, Benteke is just an better version of those types of player.

Well to begin with I thought "who"?, then it was "why"? and now I'm actually quite excited at signing Salah (if true). I guess it's just SOS ('signing on syndrome') !

Shhhhhhhhhhh.
Ross will hear you

You should know better.

Although to be fair we had agreed personal terms and a fee last month with the club according to various 'reliable' twitter users, so only the medical was remaining.

I can't wait until someone else on twitter tells us how great he played against Oldham on Saturday.

And how he linked well with Alonso
