The January transfer window

I have seen Tello play in person before and me likey the looks of him.

He can be inconsistent and has the uncanny ability to drift in and out of a game, but when on form, can be pretty lethal.

Sign. Definitely better than Moses and what we've got at the moment on the wings.

I would suss out Alan Dzagoev from CSKA Moskva.

I really rate the lad & his name barely gets a mention in the media ... but with Honda now finally set to join Milan in January, whether CSKA are willing to lose their 2 main men at the same time remains to be seen.

Quality player.

The new Russia WC kits look pretty awesome, would give me an excuse to buy a (fake) one!

[article]French newspapers claim Roma could take Javier Pastore on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January. The Argentina international midfielder left Palermo in August 2011 in a transfer worth €42m (£37m). He has repeatedly been linked with a return to Serie A, as Juventus, Inter, Napoli, Milan and Fiorentina all showed an interest. According to L’Equipe this morning, PSG are prepared to release Pastore in the January window, but only on a six-month loan. Roma are prepared to accept that deal with no option to buy at the end of the season. [/article]

[article]Roma are reportedly close to securing 17-year-old Coritiba left-back Abner for €5m, beating Liverpool and Manchester City. The defender is a starlet of the Brazil Under-17 side and already has four caps for the Under-20 team as well. According to Sky Sport Italia, Roma are very close to completing a deal for Abner to arrive in January. It would be a coup, as he is also of interest to the likes of Wolfsburg, Liverpool and Manchester City. The Giallorossi already had a basic agreement with Abner before he damaged his cruciate ligament during the Under-17 World Cup in October. He will not be fit again until April 2014, but Roma see him as a valuable investment for the future.[/article]

Ok, so, at the risk of being the first cunt to say it out loud, all the rumours have us going for lower grade & young players at cut rates this window.

Not first team players who would enable us to capitalise on our better than average start & the competitions inconsistencies over the last few months.

We really need a good capital investment to get maybe two top class players in & I genuinely believe that despite our other faults we can challenge.

Arsenal have a shit load of faults, yet one record signing has propelled them up the table, Suarez, the belief our squad has, plus something similar to the signing of Ozil will have a massive effect o our season.

Unfortunately I think our owners don't see it that way.

EDIT:I am Drunk. Very drunk, so this may not make sense. Apologies.

I agree with FFF - we need to bring it a player that will immediately improve the first team - not a couple of players that will warm the bench.

Needs to be either a forward that can operate across the front line, but ideally from wide areas. An Eden Hazard type.

... Or

An attacking midfielder that can get forward from deeper areas but also drop back & help the other midfielders. A Yaya Toure type.

Easier said than done.
The only players we can sign at the moment are big team rejects or big risk low fee players. It doesn't always pan out.
Good examples Sturridge and Coutinho.
Bad ones, Borini and Aspas.

Salah could turn out to be very good. Pace, Flair, Good on the ball, DIRECT, Strong.

All the attributes. Lets see if he has the application.

Zero chance of it happening.... but Mata would be the one to make a big difference to the second half of the season.

Kagawa would be another one that would be a great pick up, but zero chance of happening.

to be fair from the owners point of view we're on course for a top 4 finish so why buy people now when they'll be overpriced?

Pastore on loan, that would be a great start.

Why?

It's taking an Aquilani type risk with no real long-term pay off.

He's struggled to make the most of his talent in France so it's hard to see him coming to England half-way through the season and hitting the ground running.

Yeah, Why sign a classy player (potentailly world class) like Pastore for half a season to help us get CL, if worst come to the worst he doesn't play well and gets given back at the end of the season, how you think its anything like a Aquilani type risk is beyond me.

Agreed. A 6 month loan is hardly the same as spending 18m?

He's also potentially fucking brilliant.

Even if there is a small loan fee its surely worth the punt, thats another thing with the post i replied to saying theres no long term pay off, of course there is a long term pay off if he helps us get CL.

It's an Aquilani type disruption to the team. Or Sahin if you prefer something that is more directly comparable in terms of the deal being proposed. These players need to play in a team and system that suits them otherwise it's a waste of time.

As for Pastore being a potentially world class player - and I can't believe I'm actually taking up this role - he's gone in the other direction so far in his career. He was hyped up to fuck and delivered nothing in his big move and unless I'm mistaken there are question marks over his attitude too.

If we had a finely balanced side that Pastore could slot into and "just work" then yeah, I'd be on board with that. That's not the case though so we'd just spend time trying to a) get Pastore to actually play and b) work him into the side.

And for what? For him to fuck off back to PSG at the end of it?

If we're going to sign him on a permanent basis that's something else.

I just don't see the point of getting him on a short-term loan deal.

I think we'll only go for potential first teamers in this window. And we'll spend a bit of money aswell.
FSG arent stupid and we've got a great chance this season.

Yeah he's been pretty average in France. If he can't even deliver there he has no chance in the premiership.
