I'm not convinced Xabi would have a better chance of winning titles with Real than he would with us, Ahmed. They've gone the galacticos route before and, while they did win things then, they didn't win vastly more than other teams in La Liga. Joining them might well turn out to be no better than a sideways move for him (and, before you raise the point, I'm not just saying that because I'm a Red).

Hi Judge - hope your well (me getting married on the 13th August).
About your response - of course your saying it coz your a red !!!!(LOL). We all want to cling to some sort of hope but the truth is - that it will be easier for him to win a title in Spain with less competition than his prospects here. In this league of ours each loss and 3 draws could mean we dont win the league its that tight - like a virgin.
You are right that during the galacticos period Real I think won less than they did before that period where they had the likes of Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, Carlos Beckham. They hardly did well in CL games - other than the game Ronaldo had against the Scum at old toilet when scored the hatrick - other than that it was just domestic titles until Ronaldhinio raised the spirits of Barca. But the point is - they are never that far behind Barca and even if the situation looks bad during February - there is always a chance they can win the league - over here there is fuck all chance of that and its going to get harder unless the team you pay for has bucket loads of money. The list seems to be increasing in our league and right now we know that United, Chelsea, will be tough, add to that the rising quality of City, and Arsenal could raise their game at any point if Wenger decides to spend a little. Then you have those other teams who on their day could beat any of the top teams if they feel up for it. Nothings guaranteed in our league - but one thing you can be sure of is that to win it:
1) You cant make mistakes
2) you cant take your foot of the pedal - every player nearly has to be at his best each game.
3) you know your rivals will be on your back till the last day of the season if possible.
We lost two games last season and won fuck all - I always thought that that would be enough. We beat the top teams last season but it was us getting too many draws that screwed us up. If we lose Alonso then we lose a lot of strength and creativity in midfield and we definitely need a replacement. I can totally understand Alonso if he does want to go - though I may not like it.
