The Donkey

I'm unsure with badger. RB seems to be the main area to break in to the squad, but with trent there and playing such a niche role in our system, i don't know whether he'd be dropped in like that. Now bradley is back we're quite covered at RB (Trent, Gomez, Bradley). I could definitely see him coming in as the 6 and working with Trent though.

Ideally within 3 months we'll have mac, endo, badger all rotating as the 6. Maybe if one excels, mac would be back in the group of 8's as you say

I've long given up hope on thiago. there's no lazarus act this time

Yeah - It’s probably just a matter of where he’ll be able to get game time - I worry about dropping him in to the 6 with so little experience - feels like he needs to play a fair few games either as one of the 8’s or a RB.

I theory - Badger playing RB and coming inside like Trent, with Mac or Endo in the traditional 6 position probably works - gives Trent a rest.

Might he good for game management if we want to tighten up a bit at the back and midfield.

Who knows though.

See it's strange, when gomez is at right back , klopp utilises him solely as a RB; i.e marauding up and down the flank. So whether or not it's solely a "trent" role rather than a RB role in our team i don't know. Maybe the plan is to utilise badger as a mini trent and let him drift central.

Gomez drifts in to the middle as well and gets forward - he just doesn’t have the passing range or shooting of Trent - his crossing is ok.

I reckon he’s going to finally score this season - he's getting closer - even had a shot that was almost on target against LASK!!!!

Fingers crossed. Might do it in a few weeks against st gilloise

Collectively, we’re trying to not upset Binomial - he tends to shed tears whenever anyone says anything not overwhelmingly positive about his fantasy wank.

Donkey’s top 3 highlights of the season so far in reverse order :

3. Two goals against Newcastle

2. Ignoring the ref after the Toulouse game.

1. Telling Pep to fuck off.

I’d have preferred “scored a hat trick against City”… but I’m old fashioned like that.

Need to have the worldie against Bournemouth in there.

Everything about that goal was Darwin to a tee

Donkey once more?
So anytime he misses a chance he's gets scrutinsed?

Haaland's missed 2 sitters in the first half today alone & it isn't the first time either but he's supposedly the best footballer to have ever laced up a pair of boots....nobody wants to take notice though.

The first one was incredibly unlucky after all the good work came from him.

The second he needed to do better with but wasn't exactly an easy chance as it's dropping just in front of him and his body position wasn't really adjusted.

Oh, I'm not criticizing the specific misses today. He just needs to become more consistent. Ball in net.

Haaland misses too. He's got a better record though.

Håland has now missed more chances than Nunez. So yes @binomial, you're right.
Although one player has 14 goals the other one 4.

That’s fine. Haaland has also scored 4 pens to Darwin’s 0. Does anyone take that into account? No. Haaland also has twice as fewer assists than Darwin. Does anyone take that into account? No. My annoyance comes from the first thing people wanting to talk about is Nunez, it’s boring. Why is no one talking about a 72m man with no goals and 8 chances missed? So it can only be an agenda.

Who is this magical 72 million man?

Modo come on lol. There’s only 1 72m man with no goals and 8 big chances missed…look at the table you posted. Nobody in football is talking about him.

If Nunez missed were costing us games then I’d get it but he was left on the pitch and we won. Nothing to moan about but instead of celebrating the win or talking about yet another injury, all the attention goes on Nunez. It’s boring.

Oh Höjlund hahaha. He plays for Man U, no one gives a shit.
Regarding Nunez, everyone talks about it because it's so visible.
Some of his misses are incredible

You know what else is so visible? Our shit defending. We've needed 4 to beat Fulham at home who've never scored more than 2 goals like ever....let that sink in.

Take the penalties out and it's still 10 goals v 4. That is the only stat, besides points in the table, that matters.

And I strongly disagree.

We're above City in the table anyway so Nunez is actually having a greater impact at Liverpool than Haaland is at City.....not lost a game when he's played.

You strongly disagree that goals are the measure of a striker. So, carrying on this conversation is pointless then.
Goals are important of course but I strongly disagree it's the ONLY measuring stick for a striker yes. He's helping us win games and he's a big reason why we're 2nd above City in the league.

People always make it about Haaland v Nunez even when we're not playing City, as if it's Nunez v Fulham, no one ever wants to mention any other player. We conceded 3 today btw....but Nunez gets all the mention? Bizarre to me.

I get @binomial point. Haaland in a klopp system might not be as efficient as it relies on a lot of interplay. Equally, Nunez might be better in another system if he's only supposed to play off the shoulder.

Haaland is absolutely a better striker. Nunez may be more of a rounded striker however

Darwin had a key role in the 3rd and 4th goals

1. He nodded down the long ball from Konate to Salah, who supplied Endo for #3
2. He followed up Gakpo's shot to win the ball (passion showing), crossed to Tsimikas and fell to Trent.

He brings a LOT to this team.
