The Donkey

That finish for the 2nd goal was a bit strange - he let it bounce off a wrong part of his foot almost like he tried to miss it on purpose and it flew in off the post.

Maybe he’s taking lessons from Jota in shithouse goalscoring 🙂
Nothing strange about it, it was glorious. Watched the cross come all the way and they met it with the perfect technique. His body shape wasn't right to take it on his stronger foot any other way, especially with 2 defenders closing in on him. Only other way he could've scored was from a stooping header.

A world class goal from a world class striker.

The first was the one that gives me most hope. Knowing he had time and he didn't have to welly it, but took it easy and found the gap. Has he ever even tried that before? That'll be the difference between good and great.

Half the time I wonder if he's pumped up by the never failing support of our fans. He's always running hot and I can imagine his internal monologue is just "VAMOOOOOS" repeatedly.

When he was against us for benfica, all his goals (on and offside) were pure placement

If we are being honest, he completely failed to sort his feet out, but somehow managed to scuff it home. It wasn't a great finish, or even a compose one, but that doesn't matter, he made the run and he attacked the ball, you're going to score if you keep doing that.

I think that sort of a ball over your shoulder on a windy day with lots of contact on you is a great finish if it goes in, regardless of what you did. I think he wasn't lucky so much to score that one as he was still on the unlucky side to not score a couple other similar goals already.

The first one is the one he's totally fucked up in the past.

Hahaha I love this so much. It rings vividly for me because it's so plausible for him.

BS

I think he knew the only way to get it was to direct it back in the direction it came from with the outside of his boot. Masterful if you ask me

Love the fella .
He is the ultimate captain chaos .
Even Suarez took time to get going..

If he learns the art of finishing, he is going to be a wonderful player..

Defenders will absolutely hate playing against him..

He seemed to have caught the benteke and Cisse offside bug for a while, during his baron spell. He was trying too hard.. Yesterday his running and positioning was nothing short of superb.

He's going to be a monster.

Yeah a few weeks ago. Was it v the Hammers. Slotted one in far corner from a distance. It was even better

Everyone's talking bout Nunez as if he was the star of the show. Yet forgetting if was Jots who set him up AND scored a brace himself.

We know what Jota can do.

Nunez has a high ceiling and is underperforming that potential. I still don't think we can win the league this year, but if Nunez goes up a level, it'll change our team massively, and it's there for him.

There's a reason that he's received so much support. We're all willing him to get there. That's where all the attention comes from.

We just need to stop letting Nunez have time to think.

Or implant Neuro blockers to stop him from overthinking. Let the mutant out.

I disagree. He knew he couldn't get his preferred left foot on it so went with the next best option - the outside of his right and put it where he wanted. I'd say it was both a great finish and composed. And Defoe agrees with me, he thought it a fabulous finish to a difficult chance.

It's weird that he doesn't get the credit he deserves when he does score a great goal and that some people are trying to find ways to denigrate a great finish. To the contrary listen to the opinion of ex-strikers on TV - all those I've seen unanimously agree it was a superb, and deliberate, finish.

Only goes to show how underrated Jota is.

Nunez isn’t underrated. He’s overrated.

Darwin's never lacked confidence, I think the issue is when he plays with Mo, he don't know if he should take the shot or pass to Mo, and secondly half his misses are due to him being hot headed for most of games, sometimes his own intensity and aggression needs to be lowered so that he can have that 'moment' to take his shot clinically. He's like a Mig-25, so fast in its original designs that it would actually burn itself up, that is his problem. In yesterday's game if you looked at his expression, there was a sense of calm about his game, noticed it during the corner's he was not being aggressive and trying to get into the their defenders - rather more focused.

Are you sure that look on his face wasn’t because he’s a bit thick?

You can't fault his indefatigability. No matter how many clear cut chances he misses, he is always involved in many of our goals. He is very frustrating but the squad love him, as do more and more fans. Even the ones that called him Donkey are warming to him

It probably helps that he has the brain of a goldfish and probably forgets he missed 3 seconds after he did.
