Perhaps we did

Comolli is a terrible lay.

for me the unknown factor with chelsea is di matteo - will he suffer second season blues? how long will it take him to figure out his best squad, by the time he does, will it be too late?

Man u - if they remain unchanged, then I see them struggling. however, i expect some MASSIVE signings from them, which if come true will mean they win!

City - look strong, but will they be distracted by the champ league?

arsenal - van persie to be irreplaceable.

conclusion - MANURE to win it.

6th is a realistic target for us based on our current squad, our transfter policy and the level of competition we've to deal with.

Anything more would be exceeding expectations.

I'd be happy with 6th and good football. I expect we'll finish about 8th again though because we don't yet have good enough players. Basically players are too often regarded as good and underperformig because they play for Liverpool, a big side, yet the truth is they're mostly crap and playing out of their skins just to get us into eighth.

I think it could be quite open this year but we won't be quite up for it yet. I expect it'll be very rocky up until Christmas, at least, and there'll be discontent at Anfield as we pass it around endlessly while teams like Wigan sit quite contentedly looking at us from the edge of their box. Lots of 0-0 and 1-1 games against middling and weak opposition so BR will really benefit if he can get results from the big early matches against the top sdes. If I were someone like Ferguson I think I'd go out of my way to let us play in front of them just to demonstrate the limitations of BR's system when it isn't yet working to perfection.

I think Chelsea will be resurgent this year and in with a shout of the title along with Man City and Man Utd. I think Newcastle, Spurs and Arsenal will be battling it out with us for the rest of the top 7 spots. I think the big flops this year will be Villa who will be just as shit and lower mid table as ever.

Wizardy, I read that once but you can jump off a bridge if you think I'll ready the exact same interesting post 3 more times. I have work to do, sorry.

😛

In fact I didn't even think I'd managed to post it once. 😕

Kept getting an errors message that the 6CM server was busy. I actually gave up and went off to do some work.

Still - 5 times??? That's my prediction for our success rate in the league during the next 6 years.

I'm not half as convinced about Chelsea as most seem to be. RDM is a complete gamble, really, despite the fairytale few first months in the job. That could so easily go tits up. Drogba's gone, and Lampard's another year older. They'll almost certainly do better than last season, but personally I'd be surprised if they finish above City or Utd.

Completely agree with you - I don't think you can say immediately that just because Chelsea have spent the money on those players that they will fit in straight away, remember that most of them have not experienced the PL. As for United - I always feel they will not do well, but say what you want about him - thier manager gets them playing with a winning mentality and they can deliver. Plus also for Chelsea, their manager did well getting them the cups but lets see how he does in the leauge over the course of a season (if he lasts it), he will be without the dogged determination of Drogba upfront and w eall know how sulky Torres can get.

Now - for us, lets just say that if our new manager can get us to create the type of chances we created last season, but make our front men score - then all I can say is that the rest of the league can get FUCKED - coz the title will be ours. We f*cking dominated 90% of all games last season BUT for our inability to put the ball behind the net we would be ...... (Allah knows best).

If Rodgers does what I think he'll do, tactically, squad-wise etc.
We're gonna take the league by storm. CL here we come.

You've got to think City, Utd and Chelsea are nailed on top 3, dunno what order.
Up to us to seize the other spot in contention with Arse & Spurs probably. If we finish above any of them i.e. 5th or better, that would defo be a good season.

I've already said it in a couple of other threads but I think Chelsea are going to struggle next season; it could all click miraculously but I don't think Roberto will manage to handle the old ego's in Frank and Terry along with a sulky Torres and an unbelievable one in Hazard. Throw in the loss of Drogba, the unknown's of some real new comers to the league - I think they could fail miserably.

Arsenal will win games with the football they play - much the same way as the mancs do with their style. That said they won't have the cutting edge they need, IMO, which will see them outside the top 4 by some margin.

City are City; the only weakness remains, IMO, their manager. He may evolve their style but I think he's too conservative to take advantage of the attacking talent at his disposal. Favourites but will struggle more than they probably should.

United will, I think, finally start to struggle. I've never forecast it before but if they don't bring in someone to help Rooney out or find a really strong DM then I think they'll be found wanting in the big games. Should have won it last season but won't this season unless there's a focus on addressing those two issues.

Spurs; going to be much better than everyone keeps saying IMO. Would have been top 3 easily last season except for the England manager debate derailing their season. I think they'll miss Harry - the fact the rest of us won't is evidence enough of this. AVB, however, will prove his mettle with them next season. I think they'll sign the right players and I think they actually have a pretty good base to play his style of football. Modric going would be a big one but they usually get top dollar for those players and then spend it wisely. I think they're certs for top 4.

We're going to be behind the 8 ball at the start. Players will be learning a new system in pressure games against big opponents - I can see us with a lot of ground to make up after the early rounds. If Gerrard can keep fit and play the way he was in the Euro's then we're going to cause anyone trouble. If Lucas can make a good recover we'll be in even better shape; throw in Luis without the scandal of Evra, Agger and Skrtel together at the start and the spine looks very good. As is always the case the test comes with the quality around the edges. Someone like Walcott going down the right and a Xabi in the middle would see us shake things up. I think we're top 4 with City, mancs and Spurs but the begining of the season will see us play catchup and 4th is likely to be the limit.

From the same man who was "convinced" we'd make the top 4 the last 2 years running, and who also claimed Mn United would struggle 2 seasons ago. The year they went on to win the league.

"digging"?

It's the truth.

Well, I did say we'd get top 4 last season.

I didn't say we'd get top 4 the season before.

I didn't say the mancs would struggle 2 years ago except in terms of "they'll struggle to win the title".

This against your breathless navel gazing that led to "city won't win the league for at least 5 seasons" 3 years ago, "Pennant will do a good job for us" and your wonderful support of how good Henderson would be before we signed him.

Your RAWK like devotion to Rafa and your penchant for trolling since his departure is all a bit weird; your chalk boards were more interesting than this rubbish.

Ledley King is forced into retirement due to injury. Spurs will miss him.

Big loss for them - more from the dressing room perspective. He was a born leader, and they were better with him in the back. That being said, Dawson & Kaboul/Gallas is a solid CB pairing.

I truly hope RDM fails at chelsea, I am forced to sit near a big Chelsea fan, who stopped grinning since the champions league final and banging on about any of our mistakes.

Unfortunately they look like they will only be stronger this year.

Man United on paper had a poor squad last year apart from obvious stand outs, but still pushed to the bitter end, what ever you think about Fergerson he is a good manager, have they improved with their signings, maybe, still think they are not as strong at the back as they have been, Smalling, Jones and Evans aren't that good are they?

Man City for the title, United pushing them, everybody else fighting for 3rd & 4th, if we get a good start and Brendans pass masterclasses work, we could be in that mix, but I think it is getting harder and harder to catch up without massive investment in the right players, I think we missed that opportunity last year, but I hope I am wrong.

Indeed, but with him in the team ( under Harry)they won 75% of their games compared to 35% without him, thats a decent amount of points.
