So obviously we are going to win the league this year...

*pauses*

*waits for cheers to die down*

*calms down the army*

So what about the oppo.
Manchester City are currently pretty perfect right? Strength in depth and a top class first 11. Stability of personel and manager so they will be tough to stop.....tough... but possible.

Manchester United. Signed Kagawa and Powell. Wellbeck will improve again and with Nani, Young and Valencia all there they have great attacking options. Age is catching up with Rio, but they have Vidic, Smalling, Jones and Evans too, so pretty strong with Carrick, Scholes, Anderson etc all playing a part. Going nowhere and probably still a big signing to come.

Chelsea. Wow. Oscar, Marin, Hazard to add to a front line of Malouda, Meireles, Ramires, Benayoun, Torres. They have all the attacking options they need. Their back line looked creaky as fuck last year and their DMs are not what they need. If they can get that deeper midfield bit right they will be awesome this year.

Arsenal. Van Persie out with a couple of newbs in? Will they spend any Van Persie money on recruits? They need too. They need a top CF to replace him and a top CM with doubts over Wilshere and Ramsay.

Spurs. Cant be arsed. Fuck Spurs.

Personally I think it's still too early to judge ... there are going to be more high profile transfers before we're done this Summer.

However, currently :

City : have the confidence to go on and do it again, but unless they have a couple more big name signings that scare the living shite out of the opposition, then I think they'll actually have a tougher time of it this year. There were times last year when they were far from impressive, just consistent. They will lose Tevez.

United : My forecast is that'll miss out on the Top 3 (I always forecast they'll be in decline). I look at their team and I still believe they overachieved last season. Without Rooney they often struggled and Welbeck is decent but he's nowhere near a top striker yet. Powell is for the future and I'd be very surprised to see him near a starting berth except in cups. They need better in midfield to pair Kagawa and they need better up front when Rooney is missing. No big name transfers ? No Top 3.

Chelsea : THE challenge to City. Superb buys in and I doubt they have finished. Will be a major power in both the PL and CL.

Arsenal : They got lucky last season. If they lose RvP they are fucked. I see them competing for 4th/5th/6th this season.

Spurs : I think VB is actually a better manager than most on here. But it's too early to forecast too much for them as there will be a number of Ins/Outs as the new manager puts his stamp on the squad before the start of the new season. The CL could hurt them.

At this moment in time (I'm making the assumption that we will get Allen and Walcott, or two other players along those lines and of that quality) :

1st Chelsea, 2nd City, 3rd/4th Liverpool/United, 5th/6th Spurs/Arsenal

City
Chelsea
Utd
Liverpool

City have a fantastic squad and will probably add RVP or someone of thst caliber to it.

Chelsea have bought very well. Their defence needs a shape up, and they need som cover in central midfield. But attacking wise it looks very good. I also think Di Matteo wasnt Romans first choice, and a few bad results and the murmurings will begin.

Utd will be very close to Chelsea and City. Regardless of who they buy they have the best and most experienced manager. But with Giggs, Scholes and Rio getting one year older and not the same squad depth as before - they might start to struggle a bit.

Arsenal will be around 4th/5th as usual.

Spurs can get to fuck. Bought pretty good so far, but already the ego of AVB is at work. Hopefully they'll miss Modric so much they'll end up 6th.

Cavani story is from Daily Express though..

Its about as reliable as the Mail saying Spurs are trying to sign Rondon from cash strapped Malaga. Cash strapped??

City look great

I remember starting a thread years ago on here when Sven took over at City. The thread was about City winning the league before us and most on here said no way they are shit regardless of Sven and new money from the little dodgy fella.

Well they did win it before us and will likely do it again and again, does anyone see a time when we can win the league again.

Shit The Lying Rag is shining and I am sounding miserable on here today

Chelsea can win the league if they manage to divest themselves of the useless Mikel.

The fact is David Luiz is a magnificent footballer but can be a liability at the back sometimes because he's over-confident in his own ability. He has all the attributes required to be an excellent DM'er so if they line up....................

...............................Cech..........................
Ivanovic.........Cahill..........Terry..........Cole
Marin..........Ramirez........Luiz........Hazard
...............................Mata...........................
.................................Torres........................

They will challenge for the title. Lampard can come in for Ramirez, Mata or even Luiz (for easier home games) to give him the game time his ego will demand.

If they get Cavani as well (and get rid of Mikel) then I reckon they'll win it.

I'm not half as convinced about Chelsea as most seem to be. RDM is a complete gamble, really, despite the fairytale few first months in the job. That could so easily go tits up. Drogba's gone, and Lampard's another year older. They'll almost certainly do better than last season, but personally I'd be surprised if they finish above City or Utd.

This is EXACTLY what I told my father (who doesn't rate him at all). He would be superb as a DM.

I've already said it in a couple of other threads but I think Chelsea are going to struggle next season; it could all click miraculously but I don't think Roberto will manage to handle the old ego's in Frank and Terry along with a sulky Torres and an unbelievable one in Hazard. Throw in the loss of Drogba, the unknown's of some real new comers to the league - I think they could fail miserably.

Arsenal will win games with the football they play - much the same way as the mancs do with their style. That said they won't have the cutting edge they need, IMO, which will see them outside the top 4 by some margin.

City are City; the only weakness remains, IMO, their manager. He may evolve their style but I think he's too conservative to take advantage of the attacking talent at his disposal. Favourites but will struggle more than they probably should.

United will, I think, finally start to struggle. I've never forecast it before but if they don't bring in someone to help Rooney out or find a really strong DM then I think they'll be found wanting in the big games. Should have won it last season but won't this season unless there's a focus on addressing those two issues.

Spurs; going to be much better than everyone keeps saying IMO. Would have been top 3 easily last season except for the England manager debate derailing their season. I think they'll miss Harry - the fact the rest of us won't is evidence enough of this. AVB, however, will prove his mettle with them next season. I think they'll sign the right players and I think they actually have a pretty good base to play his style of football. Modric going would be a big one but they usually get top dollar for those players and then spend it wisely. I think they're certs for top 4.

We're going to be behind the 8 ball at the start. Players will be learning a new system in pressure games against big opponents - I can see us with a lot of ground to make up after the early rounds. If Gerrard can keep fit and play the way he was in the Euro's then we're going to cause anyone trouble. If Lucas can make a good recover we'll be in even better shape; throw in Luis without the scandal of Evra, Agger and Skrtel together at the start and the spine looks very good. As is always the case the test comes with the quality around the edges. Someone like Walcott going down the right and a Xabi in the middle would see us shake things up. I think we're top 4 with City, mancs and Spurs but the begining of the season will see us play catchup and 4th is likely to be the limit.

I've often said that to the mrs. The fact is he can pass capably and hasn't got an awful shot on him means he could excel in defence and attack.

We've got a team that can get top 4. Whether we will is another matter. Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham and Everton are teams we can finish above this season, but not Utd, City or Chelsea unless we get in a couple of top signings i think.

Wizardy, I read that once but you can jump off a bridge if you think I'll ready the exact same interesting post 3 more times. I have work to do, sorry.

I really shouldn't like the mention of wizardry having a stroke.....

more modo territory that

We have a great chance to play ourself into form before the season starts with all these qualifiers going on. Hope we have depth enough to not loose it completely in Black Novemebr (As under Rafa) or Xmas program (as under Kenny).

the rest:

How long can United keep on winning games without playing football?
Will City cope with the pressure and the expectations. Also must perform in CL.
Chelsea can surely not defend themselves to glory?
Arsenal lose van persie, but Podolsky will take the league by storm. My money goes on Van persie will be sour when Arsenal win second spot this year!!!

itl be between chelsea and city this year, think united look weaker than they have done for a while but its always dangerous to write them off, as much as a bellend ferguson is he gets them winning games

I wouldn't be that quick to write United off, they had more injuries last season than any other team in the league and still only lost the title in injury time on the last day.

City should rightfully start favourites particularly if RVP lands there soon.

I won't really be concerned about Chelsea until they sign some strikers.

If Spurs turn Modric into Vertonghen, sigurdsonn and Moutinho then you'd have to expect them to be tough as well this year.

I think we will still be outside the top four (unless Shelvey plays every game)

I think porto said moutinho would cost 30m

And Montpellier said Giroud would cost 50 million. They sold him for 12.
Think porto have a bit more clout (not to be disrespectful to montpellier)

They sold Falcao last year for 40m, talk of 37 for hulk. I don't think they're a team who would be taken for a ride

We should have "seduced" Downing, Henderson and Carroll too.

Perhaps we did
