Hamburg have sacked their manager off the back off poor recent form culminating in being twatted at the weekend.

Great..

Hard to say. Teams often respond in the first game or two to a new manager. Have they named the interim/new manager yet?

I'd be happy for Fulham to get to the final (have a soft spot for them) so long as we beat them.

I dread playing fulham (or any other English team) in Europe. We're miles better against foreign opposition.

That's still a rather bizarre decision from the Hamburg board, just a few days short of a Europa cup semi 2nd leg tie that they're still very much in.

Terrible timing, you would have thought they'd be desperate to make the final
considering it's in their gaf. This definitely will hurt their chances.

I'd rather play Fulham in Hamburg than Hamburg.

I wouldnt. We play best when the pressures on, back against the wall.

As such playing Fulham, who we will be expected to beat, will be a huge banana skin IMO.

Agreed, for a number of reasons in addition to Hamburg's internal troubles. We've won Bigears on the home team's patch before now, when we beat Roma in 84, so we have previous for that kind of thing. Additionally Fulham are a tidy team, have beaten others to get this far and have caused us plenty of trouble this season already.

In fairness, we'd be expected to easily beat Hamburg under normal circumstances as well. And the crowd would be well up for a bit of giant killing.

It's a tricky one. I'm not sure who I'd prefer, but to be honest I'm not convinced we're going to get to the final, so will wait and see first.

I'd happily play Fulham or Hamburg in Hamburg at this stage of proceedings

Hodgeson should be named manager of the year if he manages to take Fulham to a European cup final. They were going down when he took over. It's a remarkable achievement from a true gent.

I quite agree with you. Which is why I said "as long as we beat them". Which I wouldn't be confident of.

If for some reason we lose to Athletico I hope Fulham win the trophy.
