Team for Arsenal

---------------Pepe---------------

Carra---Skrtel--Agger--Insua

--------Mascher--Lucas--------
-------------Aquilani--------------

---Stevie----Kuyt-----Riera

I like the look of that team Rafa, I like it a lot.
I think Rafa views it as Lucas vs Aquilani for one spot in the team right now.

I think you're probably right mate, so i expect to see N'Gog play up front with either Aquilani or Lucas starting.

I watched the Gooners game today and if we can defend well enough, i fancy us to cause them a few problems on the counter attack.

Not in one million years would I play Mascherano at right back. Certainly not against Arsenal anyway.

Stick Carra there, put Skrtel and Agger in the centre.

Change Riera for Maxi and Robert's your father's brother.

i think i can explain. i was already thinking or who would go on the left whilst attempting to type 'reina'. reina requires no thought as he's a given.

Babel is capable of winning games

Seems like a long time ago, but he can do it.

The issue we've got is, as usual, a chronic lack of pace, which is why Babel needs to be in the mix somewhere
Any possibility of Rafa playing 4-4-2 with Babel and Ngog upfront?
We looked so much better once Carra moved into the centre of defence. Any chance we can clone Mascher so he can play RB and CM at the same time? If not, I'd be tempted to go:

Reina

Mascherano - Carra - Agger - Insua/Aurelio

Lucas - Aquilani

Kuyt - Gerrard - Riera

Wash

It'll probably be another backs-to-the-walls display, but we're getting good at those. And Arsenal are very vulnerable to both the counter-attack and set-pieces. I have a feeling we might sneak a 1-0 win here if we don't make any mistakes in defence.
Oh dear! I don't know whether the above line-up is a joke on your part or not but you are fucking stupid if you would want Lucas ahead Mascher as our defensive midfielder. Fucking hell people wake the fuck up!!!

No one can accuse the man of hiding. He has taken an unbelievable amount of stick from Liverpool fans on forums, phone ins and from the match goers, but he has kept going and kept trying. He turned another very good performance against Everton and has been one of our better players over the last month.
Fucking horseshit. He was average against Everton, and was fucking shit in several games before that.

The blueprint of how to beat Arsenal has been shown for all to see in the last 2 weeks. Crowd the middle of the park and suffocate their tight passing lines as they always play narrow, then play on the counter as they are positionaly awful when being attacked on the break as they dont get enough players back in time. with that in mind I would play

---------------Reina

Carra---Agger--Skertel-- Insua

Babel----Lucas--Mascher-Riera
------------Gerrard
-------------Kuyt

Kuyts been great upfront recently so I think he should lead the line. Lucas Gerrard and Mascher would be in amongst arsenals midfield triangles hassling and closing down while Babel and Riera would provide pace and width respectively on the flanks. Clichy is all over the place at the moment and a wide player with pace is going to cause him problems everytime.. The main thing would be to get the ball moving forward as quickly as possible everytime we win back the ball. Arsenal over commit going forward and leave huge holes at the back, if you hit them quickly on the counter there are plenty of oppurtunities

In Fabregas they have arguably the best midfielder in the world, so I would play both defensive midfielders to nullify his threat.

They've got a lot of pace too on both wings so I'll play Riera and Degen there to help out the fullbacks, Kuyt can start as a striker cos he's very sound defensively and he'll work hard to win the ball.

We should go for a draw.

Reina
Carragher
Insua
Skrtel

He has been rubbish and hasn't looked like he's cared in the past two games. He'll be off in the summer after Arsenal don't win anything again.

He's been an important part of our victory over Everton, and has been playing well for most of the season. If you weren't too proud to admit you were wrong (or possibly just bad at judging players) you'd see it too.

Agree.

Except for Babel, who I just don't trust anymore.
Okay I can't really think of a suitable replacement. Degen I guess. Or Ngog upfront

Man Utd and Chelsea have both played slightly ugly against them and gained massive points from the Arsenal. It just agitates them to no end.

I must disagree. He was ordinary against Everton, and has been either "ordinary" or "shit" most of this season.

It's great when people disagree about stuff isn't it?

Hmmm, there's actually merit in playing Babel for various reasons, but he's been so shy of gametime recently that I just can't see it happening. As you say, the fast counter attack is their achilles heel, proven by the goals they've conceded in the last few weeks. With Johnson and Torres playing I'd really fancy us.
