who's to say the owners in their desparation for funds to fend off the wolves wont accept a cut price bid for torres?

Possible, but that would only just sink us deeper in the shit they and Rafa have put us in.

We'd be even less attractive as a target.

Price is determined by supply and demand.
Fernando is one of the very elite top strikers in world football.
If he were to be available on transfer there would be more clubs than Man C in for him willing to pay top whack.

If he is sold I would be shocked if it wasn't for a fee similar to or in excess of what Ronaldo(the gay one) went for.

he wouldnt command a fee in excess of Ronaldo, his profile is not as big worldwide and he doesnt have the greasy ones bag of medals to compare to. Like him or loath him Ronaldo was the best player in the premiership for about 3 years before he left, Torres has never been that, yet

As I said similar to or in excess of Ronaldo's transfer fee.
Real were in the box seat as Ronaldo only wanted to go there and so all they needed to do was come to a mutual agreement with Man U regarding cost.
Torres has a profile as one of the top strikers in the world and would have a number of suitors, most of them with substantial funds and a readiness to over spend to get their target. Remember Man City were prepared to pay £130m for Kaka apparently, what did he go to Real for?

I still say that I would be surprised if Torres were to be sold for much less that the £70m Real paid for Ronaldo and wouldn't be shocked at all if the fee was more than that.

skysports said:
Steve McClaren's agent has confirmed that he will make a decision on his future this weekend, amid reports Wolfsburg have firmed up their interest in him.

McClaren has just led Twente to the Dutch title and a host of clubs are now tracking him.

Former German champions Wolfsburg are understood to be keen on securing his services, and sources claim that he has met with Bundesliga club.

However, another German side Hamburg are known to also be keen - whilst it is believed the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham and Celtic are keeping abreast of the former England coach's situation.

McClaren's agent Colin Gordon has now been quoted by the Dutch media, suggesting a decision on his future will be made over the weekend.

"There are many interested clubs," Gordon told De Telegraaf.

"He will use this weekend to think about his future.

"He is home in England with his wife and sons, and they will be involved in any situations he makes."

Just when you think it can't get much worse.

wonder what the odds would be for him to speak like a scouser in his first interview for us

I remember his UEFA Cup run with Boro and his response to adversity was to simply chuck more strikers on.

That is surely the sort of thing we have been crying out for.

with out starting another thread..

New Inter Milan manager Rafael Benitez is rumoured to be interested in attempting to lure Liverpool midfielders Alberto Aquilani and Lucas Leiva to Italy from his former club.

I hope the first and the last of those are right.
[/quote]Me too..

I'd like to keep Aquilani for another year, unless we could recoup £17-18M for him. Benitez won't pay that for him twice.

I'd love him to take Lucas off our hands though.

Torres no matter what his evaluation or the owners intention can't be sold without him agreeing to it. Rafa is welcome to take Aqualani and Lucas for 24 million quid. That's about break even on our layout for both players.

Petrov and Bellars would be super additions to our squad.

If Benitez signs Lucarse and The Shithouse for Inter it will, beyond any doubt, that he is fucking *insane*

God, please let him be a mental
