I wonder what is the most crazy, us paying £32.5m for Benteke or Watford turning down £25m for Deeney?

Villa didn't get much value out of selling Benteke. Going down will have cost them more than that.

I suppose Watford are looking at how much they'll have to spend on a replacement.

Which one do you think, Arn?

Turning down £25m for Deeney. A club like Watford must either pay players top class wages or sell them when they get a good offer. If they start to make it difficult for a player to leave then it will make it more difficult for them to sign good players. Good players will see them as a stepping stone just like top class players use us as a stepping stone.

Not sure how to embed a picture to this, not sure if it's photoshop or not, but there is pictures of Jordan Ibe in a West Ham jersey doing the rounds on Instagram.

Besides replacing Troy Deeney's goals, Watford probably have concerns over the home-grown player quota and sell on clause too.

Dated Jan 2016
[article]Watford will resubmit a new squad to the Premier League on Tuesday, reflecting the new signings they have made in Mario Suarez, Nordin Amrabat and Costel Pantilimon and those who have left the club, permanently or on loan. The Hornets only submitted 24 names at the end of the summer window, one short of the maximum because they did not have enough home-grown players over the age of 21 to select from.

If the Hornets were to do any last-minute deals for a foreign player on deadline day tomorrow, then they would have to leave out two foreign players as, including Essaid Belkalem who was on the list for the first half of the season, they already have one over the maximum.

Each Premier League team can only register 25 players over the age of 21. Of those 25 players, no more than 17 can be foreign players. In other words, if the Hornets want to submit the maximum 25 names to the Premier League they have to have at least eight home-grown players. A team can submit less than 25 names but still only 17 can be foreign. An unlimited number of U21 players can be named.[/article]

[article]Walsall sold Deeney to the Hornets for £500,000 in 2010, in a deal that is believed to also entitled them to 20 per cent of any profit.[/article]

I get the impression Klopp wants all-rounders in midfield, as opposed to a specialist DM and whoever else. Kante would be much more his type of MF.

IT'S A GEEK OFF!!! Start citing obscure storylines at each other and issue numbers immediately! Honour demands it.

Thing is Cloggy all premier league teams know the minimum they will get in monetary terms is £100mill so they can ask for stupid money and more. Watford should turn around and say £40mill
