Since the season’s ended they’ve linked us up with about 50 midfielders.

From Bellingham, to Rice, to Caicedo, to Valverde, to Kudus, to Amrabat, to Musah,
To Rabiot, to Mount, to Gravenburch, to Kone, to Thuram, to Veiga, to Barella…there’s really no one left?

Arthur Melo.

TBF We have consistently been linked to same players
Thuram
Viega
Gravenberch
Kone

Barella and Tchoumeni will not happen, just not in the budget

What usually happens is that we sign no one.
I think we've signed whoever it is we wanted to sign and we're done for the summer. Might get some 16 year old keeper or whatever too.

Lol. There's absolutely no way we're done this summer.

It’s June and loads of players have been concentrating on internationals.

I wouldn’t be going full Moron or Bluebell just yet.

It's the perfect excuse to say we can't afford them.
But not an excuse to why we didn't move for other players whose value didn't rise from the Tournament.

FSG have known for a very long time what is required, what the fans demand & ultimately what keeps the value of the club at peak price point.

You just end up agreeing with me anyway.
I've always said that getting in two MFs will leave us short, and we will not compete for the title, we need 3 new MFs at least and 1 CB. Why do we need 3+? Well, CJ, Thiago, Konate, Matip, Gomez, VVD and Jota are likely to have injuries which will leave them out for large parts of the season. I'm not sure Hendo has the legs. We have players like Steph and Fabs who could fill in defensive positions, by getting in that extra MF, we are not compromising the MF as much, like we did few years back.
If the finance can't stretch that far sell a couple of players to make room and look at the loans market (even though our record there is shit)

I think from all the midfielders we've been linked to (other than Barella who I've long admired), Veiga is the one I'd next want us to get.....and that's just from seeing the clips of what he can bring, what he can do, what he's about. We need that willing runner/ball carrier from midfield....he looks very comfortable in possession and unlike our captain, not scared to go past a man with the ball.

Agreeing that we need new players isn’t the same has have an epi in June over the lack of signings.

Van Dijk is not injury prone - apart from when a T-Rex almost removed his leg.

We’ve signed on midfielder - we need at least another player one, a DM would be great, but if we’re on a tight budget, we can probably leave that for another day.

I’d like a CB - but I also wouldn’t be against giving Van den Berg a crack.

There’s also Harvey & Carvalho for midfield.

It’s as much about getting a solid pre-season, getting Gakpo more integrated, getting Mac Allister up to speed and finding ways to get more out of Nunez.

Doesn’t matter if Thiago gets injured (or Jones for that matter), if Mac Allister is going to play 30+ league games.

Same with Hendo if we pull in another MF with Harvey capable of filling in too.

More playing time for Badgertits would be good - although he’s had regular injury issues too.

VVD had a hamstring injury last season, it's very likely due to his age he will get another injury that will see him out for an extended period. And with each injury it takes a toll, which effects his performance.
I don't think Klopp thinks VdB is good enough and it looks like we will accept couple of mill for him or he goes out on loan. I like Nats, and happy to see him remain, rather him in CB than Gomez.
Carvalho is going out on loan or will be sold
Harvey is like a square peg in a round hole, its hard to see where you can play him to get the best out of him. I think he should evolve in to a deep lying playmaker, where pace isn't as important but that will take time
With the intensity we play we need players to rest more which is going to be harder when you have so many players who could incur injuries that cause a long lay-off. The reason why I think Klopp doesn't rotate as much, because the drop off from 1st choice to bench option is deep

Get the Fax machine warmed up, printer cartridge loaded, the digits 3 and 5 work and ISDN line is connected.
Let’s make sure we are ready our side to submit a bid…

I really dont want this guy, I dont know what you all see in him, its all hype.
He is an excellent DM but if its just Tchouameni or Thuram and one other MF (eg Viega), I choose the latter. We have Fabs and Steph who can both play the number 6 role.
@moron who would you get in this window and see leave? For me its Thuram, Viega, and the SP Lisbon CB Inachio, people saying he is a beast and has a buy-out clause of £40m
Ali Mac £35m
Thuram £40m
Viega £35m
Inacio £35m

Total outlay £145m sell Thiago, Matip, Morton, and Nat to fund those moves

If true, seems as if we don't have 1 major target (after Mac Allister) - and might be a case of getting whoever we can out of those few linked young midfielders.

Whichever we can negotiate the lowest deal it will be him.

Surprised it wasn't Kokcu tbh seeing as he went for £25m

It will be annoying if he does really well there and a bigger club comes in for him next summer for 50-60m.

We're going to keep fucking about with prices, miss some targets, and then have a midfield that's heralded as strengthened because we've added 1 player. Klopp will be smiling, the press will fawn over our shrewd business, and we'll be shite on the pitch.

At least, thats what seems likely to happen. Every chance it'll be as above, but maybe with Thuram if we sort our shit out.

The best we can hope for is a period of sevilla like dominance of the europa league, as we sure as shit ain't getting top 4 if we only sign 2 mids

Been watching, even game.

Both line ups seem a lot stronger than the English, Dutch, Germans, Portuguese etc.

Some of set piece marking by the French has been horrendous.

Kalimuendo's back flick goal to open the scoring was sublimly taken.

Rovella looks a very good prospect.

and our targets?
Thuram had a good spell early 2nd half, otherwise not much to report…he’s a willing runner with the ball, you can see self-confidence in his play, Italians didn’t press so vigorously but the calmness in possession is there.

Kone was a little livelier, had more touches…played a few smart passes and recall a decent strike from distance which keeper put out for a corner.

Also Tomas you’ll be pleased to hear Olise was the 1 that actually came on for Thuram, but didn’t notice him much, granted it wasn’t long after the French went down to 10 and had to sit back and soak up.

Olise is all right.
Haven't seen Thuram play.

Now we soon will need to look for a forward too, if Mbappe is off to Madrid.
