Yep, not even worth entertaining because you know Barca gonna swerve and slime through any obstacles to keep the kid and succeed in doing so.

A Real Madrid representative recently visited Germany to meet Jude Bellingham and his family after making Borussia Dortmund's England midfielder, 19, their priority target for next summer. (AS - in Spanish)
Real Madrid are willing to pay Dortmund 100m euros (£88m) for Bellingham, plus 40m (£35m) in add-ons. (Sport1, via Sport - in Spanish)

@StevieM , I know, this news always comes out of the same horses mouth when we play Madrid.

Did it come out of Ruud Van Nistelroy’s mouth?

Barcelona are looking to raise £70m with the sale of Netherlands midfielder Frenkie de Jong. The 25-year-old is Chelsea's number-one transfer target this summer, but they will have to battle it out with Manchester United for his signing. (Football Insider)

They're not the same type of player though and they don't play in the same position in midfield. One doesn't exclude the other.
The interesting thing is for 120 mill, is our midfield better with Mount and De Jong or Bellingham?

The fee for Bellingham dictates a lot.

We will sit back and watch either Chelsea or Man utd get De Jong for £50/60m while pretending to go all in for Bellingham. We should be all over De Jong.

FDJ doesn't want to leave Barca, he'd probably want double what Mo is on to do so & the club know this hence the reason he's not 1 of our targets lined up, not to mention fact Barca are a sticky club to deal with.

£10m for a 6ft4 DMF who is 24, who can run, bargain!

Alongside Jude: Liverpool handed potential boost over midfield target from Klopp’s former club

Liverpool have seemingly been handed a boost to their reported hopes of signing Anton Stach from Mainz.
According to 90min last month, the Reds were among several Premier League clubs to have scouted the midfielder, whose contract at the Bundesliga side expires in 2024.
The Anfield giants have been intensely linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, and it seems they’ve an eye on another midfield target from a club previously managed by Jurgen Klopp.
Sky Deutschland have reported that Stach is open to leaving Mainz as he targets a place in the Germany squad for Euro 2024, when Hansi Flick’s team will be tournament hosts, and Die Nullfünfer could accept bids of just £10m for the 24-year-old.

What could Liverpool fans expect from the twice-capped German if he were to rock up at Anfield?
Unsurprisingly for a towering 6 foot 4 midfielder, he’s a dominant presence in the air. WhoScored cite that as one of his strongest attributes, and the numbers back it up – he’s won 2.6 headers per game this season, more than anyone in the current Reds squad.
He also excels at breaking up opposition attacks on the ground, placing in the 97th percentile for interceptions among positional peers in Europe’s top five leagues over the past 12 months (as per FBref).
Interestingly, FBref‘s similar players model cites Bellingham as one of the most comparable footballers to Stach, which seems like quite the feather in the 24-year-old’s cap.
Liverpool will have their eyes on multiple midfield additions in the summer, you would hope, but a £10m swoop for a physically dominant Bundesliga regular who seems open to a fresh challenge could be some very smart business worth exploring as an alternative to the England star.

[article]Bayer Leverkusen have parted ways with high-rated squad manager and scout Time Steidten, as reported by Kicker.

The 43-year-old moved to B04 in 2019 from Werder Bremen. Working under sports director Simon Rolfes, Steidten has been responsible for securing a number of young talents who have gone on to attract attention from around the world. Some of the players Steidten attracted to Bayer include Edmond Tapsoba, Jeremie Frimpong, and Piero Hincapie.

Known as the pearl diver, it comes as a bit of a surprise that Bayer would let such an asset go with immediate effect. His qualities have also attracted the attention of Premier League side Chelsea. Towards the end of last year, Steidten was in talks with the London club about joining their team in a similar position that he then held at Bayer.

The club must now act fast to replace Steidten. B04 have little chance of securing Champions League or European football this season. An experienced squad manager and scout such as Steidten would go a long way to helping the team get back to its former glory. [/article]

Can we sign him please?
Time to properly rebuild this squad

Jude's ain't gonna save us.

Let's just spend the 80-100m on 3 promising midfielders and hope one of them come very good. Even if all 3 turned out distinctly average they will be better than our current lot.

Baj is the only one I'll keep. The rest are well passed their expiry date.

I think this is the way forward ... take the 2 most promising midfielders in France and Germany in the tier below Jude... and our team is transformed.

Imagine if we got Tchouameni in that summer window, and Enzo now last Jan.
We would be so set up, 2 out of three all replaced. Just a slightly more creative 8 left to add to the mix.

You got to say, at least we are in for good players. And I believe we are.

Players that have hopefully played their last game and we never have to see again;

Adrian Gomez Fabinho Milner Henderson Thiago Jones Ox Keita Elliott and Phillips

Elliott. The rest can do one.

My take, the kid doesn't have it to ever be more than a squad player, just like at Bournemouth didn't notice him at all last night.....rather sell up now when he's fit than keep around for the next 15 years with half of that time being injured. OUT!

TBF he's had 1 big injury, so it's not like he's a sick note. And we still need squad players. Difference is working out when we need to sell them. At 24-25 if there's no progression, by all means
