Everton could be poised to make a bid for West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame.
The Senegal international was strongly linked with moves to Tottenham and Arsenal back in the January transfer window as he is reported to have a £3.5m buy-out clause in his contract.
Diame was outstanding for the east London club last season and played a major role in helping the Hammers secure a top-half finish in the Premier League.
New Everton manager Roberto Martinez is keen to bring in his own players and following the signing of Arouna Kone from Wigan, he is now looking to bring in a new midfielder.
The Spanish coach knows Diame well having managed him at Wigan, which could work in his favour as he knows the qualities he can bring to a team.
But West Ham will be doing everything in their power to ensure the 26-year-old remains at Upton Park and could even offer him a new long-term deal.
Everton are working on a deal for £8m-rated Chelsea winger Victor Moses.
The 22-year-old is favoured by Roberto Martinez who knows him well from his Wigan days. Everton would prefer a loan while deals for Spartak Moscow's Aiden McGeady and Swansea's Nathan Dyer are still under discussion.
Martinez signed Arouna Kone on Monday for £5m and will complete a deal for defender Antolin Alcaraz pending his work permit. Goalkeeper Joel Robles from Atletico Madrid should follow.
West Bromwich Albion youngster Izzy Brown has been given permission to train with Chelsea - as the two clubs thrash out a compensation figure.

Bayern Munich have agreed to sell the Germany striker Mario Gomez to Fiorentina for £17m.
The Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has reached a deal with the Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle, with a contract still to be finalised.
Rummenigge said: "It was Mario Gomez's wish to leave Bayern in the direction of Florence. We've now granted his wish."
Gomez joined Bayern from Stuttgart for a then Bundesliga record fee of £30m in 2009. Bild reported that Fiorentina will pay €16m (£13.7m) rising to €20m (£17.2m) for the 27-year-old forward who scored 112 goals in 172 games for Bayern
Hull City have pulled out of a move for Charlie Austin after the Burnley striker failed a medical.
The development will come as a huge blow to the Premier League new boys, who agreed a deal understood to be worth £4.5m over the weekend.
No details of the medical have been revealed but Austin has a history of shoulder problems. The 24-year-old, who scored 28 goals in the Championship last season, underwent checks on Monday night.
Asked if the deal had collapsed, the Hull manager Steve Bruce told Talksport: "Unfortunately, it looks like it. There has been a bit of a problem with his medical, which is the worst scenario for everybody concerned, and more so the boy.
"It's an awful, awful, awful situation to find ourselves in but unfortunately the medical is not great, so it looks as if it is a non-starter. I think he is surprised because he has not really missed any games over the last couple of years.
"It is a blow for him and it's a blow for us. These medicals are so stringent, things have progressed with scans and all the rest of it and he has got a problem."
The collapse of the deal was confirmed by Burnley in a statement that said Austin "remains a Burnley player and the club will make no further comment at his time".
Ghanaian youngster Derrick Appiah will leave Accra on Saturday to begin pre-season training with promoted French Ligue 1 side Monaco.
The 18-year-old signed for the club in January this year but could not make his debut for them in the French Ligue 1.
He has obtained his work permit and regarded a first team player by head coach Claudio Ranieri
Appiah has recovered from a recent injury and raring to prove a point at the nouveau riche club.
The former Amidaus Professionals initially joined Italian side Napoli as a trainee but was not given a permanent deal.
He was whisked by Monaco who have identified the potentials of the battling midfielder.
He is the complete forward in that he can score goals from anywhere; inside the box or outside, strong in the air, reads the game very well etc. For £4.5m a big club should be taking a chance on him regardless of the shoulder problem - as the report suggests he has a good record with injuries so far.Charlie Austin is meant to be the real deal and a future England international

I've been impressed with what I've seen of him, but I can't agree with the "regardless" bit. The shoulder business must be significant for Hull to pull out of the deal altogether. Take a look at him by all means, but carefully.
To the likes of Chelsea, Man City etc £4.5m is a pittance. He could go on to become a prolific scorer in the EPL and I think for that amount he becomes worth the risk.I've been impressed with what I've seen of him, but I can't agree with the "regardless" bit. Surely going to a club like Chelsea would destroy his career.... that is unless they loaned him out immediately.
Even at Liverpool he probably wouldn't get enough games.

Believe it, Jovetic and Manchester City are really, really close
TOTTENHAM have started negotiations with FC Twente over the signing of Nacer Chadli.
According to reports in Belgium and Holland, the North London team are busily hammering out a deal to bring the 23-year-old to the Premier league.
It's thought Spurs will sign the former MVV player on a five year deal.
The Dutch outfit reportedly received an official offer for Chadli on Wednesday from Spurs worth £7m, but are now holding out for closer to £9m.
Swansea were thought to have tabled a bid believed to be around £8.5m for the attacking midfielder.
But the Premier League outfit have cooled their interest in Chadli and have switched their attentions to Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony.
The Belgian international, who scored against Tottenham in the Champions League in 2010, would join countrymen Moussa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen if the deal is successful.
Roma have agreed a €5m transfer for Dinamo Zagreb’s teenage defender Tin Jedvaj, beating Tottenham.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the 17-year-old is already at the Trigoria training ground in Rome for a medical.
The Giallorossi will hand over €5m plus 20 per cent of any future sale, while the player is set to sign a five-year contract.
Centre-back Jedvaj played 13 games for Dinamo Zagreb in the HNL last season, scoring one goal.
He had also been of interest to Tottenham and the Croatian club had confirmed negotiations last week.
