I wouldn't countenance that. We'd still lack a proven striker. Right now we have the promising (but not time-served and fragile) Sturridge. We have the youthful and unconfident Borini. Muriel is a player with loads of promise, but that's it.

Surely Muriel represents a little more than promise; he's not in the RVP region yet but he seems very good already and the promise to be immense.

Personally its Eriksen and Papa I'd be more worried about in that deal.

If we sold Suarez now (and FSG won't at this stage of the window) then we'd be resting our season on the shoulders of a couple of kids who may or may not work out.

Hmmm, strange that you also used the word 'promise' in your reply. That would suggest that he is, as I said, a player with 'loads of promise'. Despite this promise we both apparently agree he has, he's only had one proper grown-up season with Udinese, and even then he wasn't a nailed-on starting player (22 games, starting 15). Yes, his stats were great, but just because he has shown terrifically exciting potential, I think we need some of that alongside a top class, seasoned striker. I'd love him, but not at the expense of one of the best strikers in world football.
