at this rate sturridge will eclipse them all.
According to LFChistory.net, he scored 50 in his first 84 games. I'm manually going through the next 16 to get the total.
I make it 61 in first 100.
Coincidentally, it seems it was around the 100 game mark that Torres turned to shit.
Aldridge scored 62 in 102 games, so again right up there.
If you look at Rushie's stats it is only because he got a few appearances in 80/81 that skew his stats, he played in 9 without scoring believe it or not. He then played exactly 100 games in the next two seasons scoring 61 times.

I came on as a sub against Oulu and scored my first goal, scored two against Exeter City in the cup and two against Leeds United. As you say the rest is history, but later when you find out when I spoke to Bob Paisley, he never had the intention to put me on the transfer list. That’s typical how Bob Paisley knew to get the best out of his players. Bob Paisley was very good at his job. If players wanted to sort out matters with Bob Paisley they could be in his office for an hour and the players come out happy. You ask them 'What happened?' 'I don’t know.', they would say. They would come out really happy, but he still hasn’t answered. That goes to show how good he was.[/article]

I remember that barren initial spell from Rushie, thinking I was glad we hadn't paid Chester a particularly high fee for him. Just goes to show. 😀
