Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I don't agree.

I'm not suggesting we should buy players simply to state that we have new found ambition, but the mercenary scum that make up the majority of our squad don't need too many excuses to move in the summer. Every player in our side, if they haven't made their mind up where they'll be playing next season already, will certainly have done that BEFORE the next transfer window opens - which gives us three days to state in actions not words whether our ambition meets theirs.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I won't forgive Mark MC if this doesn't come off.

We'll have to give him a Paddy style send off thread too.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

If we have bid 17 and they want 21, then this will happen. We can't for the love of God walk away for 4 mill £. It will be worth it in prize money alone for finishing higher in the table.

Exactly, this is an opportunity to firstly throw down a marker, secondly take some pressure of Torres and to have a plan B when he ain't there, and thirdly to try and improve on last years position and see some progress, and if they chuck that away for what now appears to be £3m quid or so, I will be majorly pissed off.
I think it's pretty much in the bag anyway, and look for a quick finish to this and the Adam thing.

it's not really, we're talking alot of money here

in case you hadn't noticed, the country is in a recession and our owners are prudent having just cleared a mountain of debt that threatened to sink us

i wouldn't blame them whatsoever if they pulled out over some ridiculous fee

The idiots clamouring for them to pay whatever Ajax demand need a reality check

I agree with this too. It also ensures that we approach the next transfer window with one less position to worry about.

they've just paid 300m and potentially could lose a star player maybe because of lack of ambition, a few million in the grand scheme of things isn't a big deal and if it is why'd they fucking buy us?

Good source?

Didn't Mark say around 12 pm

Fuck, I can't get any work done now. Thank God the window closes on sunday, or I'd get fired.

Yep, bang on. It's about the longterm more than anything. Not buying will just give the likes of Torres the right to ask in the Summer where the ambition was, before packing his bags for Barca, or worse.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Reagan once said a few billion here and a few billion there, before you know it you're talking real money

A few million can make a massive difference

LFC should not be held to ransom or once again put in peril.

The summer window opens in 5 months, i would suggest they wait till then

Henry can go talk to the players personally if he wants to keep them informed about our ambitions which I think he has spoken before and are genuine. This doesn't mean we're going to be held to ransom and the very future of the club mortgaged again

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Pebble talking about "reality checks" is somewhat interesting.

Or not.

so rebel, how's the penny pinching helped us so far?

we passed on simao because of a few million
we passed on alves because of a few million
we passed on vidic because of a few million (I think)
we saved a fortune in fees for voronin
we saved a fortune in fees for jove
and so on...
and so on...
and so on...
