I`ve been receiving numerous emails from Liverpool fans asking about Luis Suarez and my views on him as a player. Personally, I think that he would make the ideal signing for Liverpool at this moment in time.
Multiple sources are reporting that Liverpool have been told by Ajax they have until Saturday to finalise a deal for Luis Suarez, or they will miss out on the Uruguayan forward. However, while it is true that the Amsterdam club have let it be known that they are trying to impose a deadline at the weekend, Liverpool believe that this is simply a negotiating tactic and that such ultimatums are rarely, if ever, enforced. Even if a deal is not finalised at the weekend, if Liverpool make an offer close to Ajax`s asking price of £21million, the feeling at Anfield is that there is room to manoeuvre right up until January 31st when the transfer window closes.
Liverpool`s position is boosted by the fact that the player is desperate to move to Liverpool and he has been monitoring the Premier League club closely all season, convinced that his can form a dream partnership with Fernando Torres that will help Liverpool push for European qualification. The feelings are mutual. Torres would prefer to play alongside Suarez – ahead of Negredo (who has not been contacted by LFC since the Premier League club made an earlier offer) or any other target on the horizon at the moment. Suarez is similar in style to David Villa, slightly less accomplished, and can play behind the striker, out wide or just off a number nine – and would therefore suit Torres perfectly without the Spanish international having to alter his game. His compatibility with Torres is just one of the reasons why Damien Comolli has made Suarez his number one striking priority and further discussion between Liverpool and Ajax could be taking place later today (Thurs) although this had not been confirmed late on Wednesday evening.
