Souse is based on LobScause (sp?) which was from Norway or some such place. It also inspired 'Lobby' the Welsh version, invariably made with just lamb.

Hahaha, I didn't know that. You're not far off though. It's Lapskaus.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Any updates on Suarez? What happened to McMark's 100%?

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I've seen a few reliable sources this morning suggest Ajax are looking for 21m - not the 30m cited. It would be great to get a bargain but 18m to 20m seems normal for a top striker these days...

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Thats the problem with us. If man utd want someone they generally just pay it.

We constantly go looking for players we cant afford or won't pay big for.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

JimBoardman: De Telegraaf suggest #LFC wants to finalise #Suarez deal. Also states "he's finished in Holland"

Here's the translated article from De Telegraaf

Today is D-day for Luis Suarez. The star player knows today since last night that Liverpool will do to a supreme effort to remove him from Ajax. It awaits the South American striker is excited. Blocks Ajax his transfer by adhering to his eyes in an exorbitantly high price (25 million), it is no longer motivated to Suarez for his club to work.

Whether that means he is not training and playing, the next 48 hours clear. But it is a major problem where the management and technical staff at Ajax for days to hiccup. Suarez after a failed transfer negotiations on Monday (between Liverpool and Ajax) Ajax to everyone expressed that he wants to leave at all.

The player is finished with the Netherlands, due to the lengthy suspension and the tough criticism after the biting incident. The chance of a championship with Ajax is also getting smaller. If his current total of seven goals not substantially bolt on and not in the Champions League comes out, its price plummet to a messy twelve million euros.

The clubs now have not queued for Suarez and will therefore do no more than twenty million. In the league he is the star player, but abroad know trainers and clubs it is not such a big status. The management of Ajax is now a poker game with the Uruguayan as effort and the risk of a major financial mistake and sporting loss is great.

Hahahahaha this is getting weirder by the post!!

We've got a dish over here called

Skipperlabskovs

I've litterally never understood what was going on with that name.

Skipper = Captain
Lab = ? Hand, perhaps
Skovs = Forrest (skov) with an extra s and then it's not a Danish word anymore.

It doesn't not make any sense at all. It tastes delightful though.
Here it's called 'Labskaus'.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

"Labskaus" is where the term 'Scouser' came from originally, if im not mistaken.

Ok, even if these dont come off, one thing it will mea is that come the summer, no one will doubt the new owners ability to walk away if prices get silly.

May stop us being bummed senseless every summer with extortionate fees.

And you know what Jon, if we sign nobody because of this then it will show a resolve. Plus it does give the players we have the opportunity to somewhat turnaround a situation that is, in the main, down to their inability to get results earlier in the season - Hodgson aside of course.

These players owe us and part of me says, why should they be rescued by £30m of talent, they got us into this mess, they should be capable of getting us out of it, so fucking get on and earn your corn - like they have been under Dalglish.

that's the king's unifying magic at work!
It is indeed. If Roy was still here, I'd be pulling my hair out for some signings, but the King and his staff have started to make the incremental improvements to salvage something out of this season. Not what where we all wanted to be of course but at least going in a different direction.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Frustrated Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish says if he does not add to his squad before the end of the transfer window, it will not be for a lack of trying.

Ajax coach Frank de Boer has placed a Saturday deadline to finalise a deal for forward Luis Suarez - despite the fact both clubs are miles apart in their valuations - while the pursuit of Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam has also stumbled over the transfer fee.

Having watched his side grind out a 1-0 win at home to Fulham on Wednesday night, Dalglish would like to bring in reinforcements, especially after selling Ryan Babel to Hoffenheim, but time and money may conspire against him.

"The finance is there. Everything is in place but it's difficult to get players out of other clubs at this time,'' said the Scot. "If we do not get anyone it is not for the want of trying.''

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Anybody has any confirmation what the Babel fee was?

Where did you get that from? £5.8m was the widely publicised figure.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Probably a typo by Doc. £5.8m rising to £7-8m is what has been reported.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

oops 5.8 then. What's a million between friends?

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

6 or 7 million.

Sucks since he cost 11.5 but thats the way it is.

Hope theres some sort of sell-on clause if he's a revelation there or something.

The problem with that Spion is that, whilst I agree that some players owe us because they are better than what they've been giving, there are others who got us into the shit, and will never get us out of it, because they are simply not good enough.
