Lots of debate in the Salah thread but I believe it's cut and dry.

If you had the option to have one of those players which would you pick?

I’ll have Suarez in the 13/14 season and Salah in the 17/18 season. Should get a load of goals that way.

Cannot vote on this - this is a horrible thread. It's the sort of thread that cuts at the very heart of a supporter:-

1) On the one hand you have the sheer aggression and unpredictable firebrand of Suarez who's very actions and method of play hits the most darkest side of ones emotions in that you feel he could fuck everyone and your lesser self just wants to give in to his ways.

2) Then you have Salah - the silent assassin who has been exceptional in behaviour and producing the same outcomes in terms of goals, with skill but less aggression but just as effective. He does not raise your aggression levels when you see him play.

It's like choosing the Jedi you love from the Star wars saga - do you prefer the aggressive skills and arrogance of Darth Maul or do you go for equally effective and clever Obi-wan ? - shit analogy I know but the final answer will be different for every supporter depending on their emotions when they see the two play.

Suarez bought out the worse emotions in me - I felt with him in front we could just screw everyone over. I still remember that goal he scored against WBA away - if I remember correctly he just stood outside the penalty area and looked at the array of defenders in front of him - like a bull about to charge through - he suddenly moves and goes straight through them with strength/pace/skill - like a charge forward and smacks that ball into the net. When he was at his best it was like the ball was his servent ready to do his bidding just like the way Darth Maul yields his lightsaber in the Phantom Menace. That season was fucking mental with him, and if he did not get his way i.e. the ball did not do his bidding - he would do something crazy !!!

I hate this binary Soccer AM style bullshit.

Obviously there are infinitely variables but I'm surprised it has caused so much debate.

Salah is amazing but Suarez is arguably the most gifted all round player to ever play for the club in terms of ability and desire (not number of year, trophies etc)

Anyway it's been an age since you started a proper debatable football thread.

Let's have it. I might even take the time to think out and review my replies before posting.

Just for you.

You can still rip the part like and tell me I'm just smart enough to not eat myself.

This is the worst analogy I've ever read on here. Fuck The Phantom Menace and Earth Maul. Get out of here with that shit.

Darth Maul wasn't a Jedi.

You are correct ... he a Sith. But for clarity and ease assume best performer with a lightsaber.

The term "Sith" has always brought back memories of school for me. One of our teachers who quite often used to play, er, pocket billiards acquired the nickname "Syph", short for something else which I'm sure everyone can work out.

Different yet equally boss players, just enjoy the fact we have Salah in this sort of form, dont wish for an alternative as we could easily be without Salah in 12-18 months time if past years are anything to go by - Enjoy the journey [cringe]

Also Suarez was/is the most devestatingly complete forward ive ever seen play for this club but Salah is on track to totally eclipse his goal scoring record, that said, summarily comparing the two, given the differences in players/club/league/everything is unfair on both players/stupid.

If there was Liverpool all time 11 would Suarez and Salah be in it?

If we were playing 4-4-2, no, because the King has to be in there and you can't, you just cannot separate him and Rushie. Suarez defo gets in with those two if we go to a 4-3-3. Salah's exploits this season prolly get him in the squad but for me he wouldn't get in the team yet, though who knows by the time his LFC career is over?

As it currently stands who would make your 11 (in your favoured formation)?

Clemence

Babbel
Lawrenson
Hansen
Nicol

Callaghan
Gerrard
Souness(capt.)
Barnes
,
Dalglish
Rush

Subs: Reina, Rob Jones, Hyypiä, Mascherano, Keegan, Beardsley, Suarez.

Even I can't believe I haven't got Suarez in the side. He is without doubt the most talented individual I've seen play for Liverpool in half a century and would join the King and Rushie in the front line, with Cally dropping to the bench, if we went 4-3-3. If we did, though, Souness would be by himself in midfield half the time as Stevie G and Digger would be forever bombing forward - Stevie would come back and help at times but Digger wouldn't, so we'd risk getting a bit swamped in there. I'd unleash Suarez as the other lot's legs got tired. If I were feeling really sadistic I'd throw Keegan and Beardsley on later in the game as well. :vamp:
