The fact that he doesn't work as hard as others only becomes an issue because the system dictates it. It wasn't a problem in the three pronged attack with Sterling and Suarez, no one gave a fuck then. He's been back fit for the longest period in ages at the moment, so I'm not sure throwing his injury record over the last season and a half at him is really fair, nor does it equate to "he's missed half of every season".
I don't think he fits Klopp's style and I think that hangs question marks over his future, but as Woland says, you'd rather have someone like him, capable of putting in a late winner than someone who'll cover acres for 90 minutes and come away with 10 goals a season. Torres played plenty of games where he was fairly anonymous for 80 minutes but would get the winner in a tight game.
People can question his attitude, fine, when he was playing and being used correctly, he used that less likeable side of his character to have fierce competition with Suarez a couple of seasons ago, whatever arguments they used to have on the pitch was neither here nor there, because the end result was goals, wins and the desire to out-do eachother. No one gave two shites about his attitude then.
If you play him he'll get back into form and score regularly. If he feels like he doesn't belong here and is used in a half cocked team as a blatant back-up player, then you're on a hiding to nothing. There are times when Klopp could and should have used him in big games, and there have been times when he could have handled him much better. If he goes, then unless we bring in some free-scoring work horse of player, he'll be a big loss and it'll bite us on the arse.
People have short memories about his ability, are we that desperate to justifying everything Klopp does, that we're that willing to let this fantastic talent go?
