So... Lambert is clearly just not fitting into the way we intend to play at the moment and with Borini frozen out and Mario/ Studge injured it has me wondering what we have in the Ressies.

You see the likes of United playing Wilson, City playing Pozo - taking a chance on young players who they believe can change a game / cause trouble with opponents.

Who do we have at the moment and are they even close to being ready for a bash if needed?

I can only think of Sinclair and Yesil but I don't follow us below the first team at all.

Anyone able to deliver an analysis of what we have? More out of curiosity as I can't imagine any of them will get a chance to feature unless maybe for the Bournemouth game.

As far as I can tell (gkmacca would likely know better than I):

Yesil is still to be a long period of being fit post his major injury under his belt.
Sinclair looks like he might be more effective coming in from the flanks rather than an out and out striker, and is possibly not ready to make that sort of step up.

Yeah i thought about this the other day. How do we not have one single firing striker in the youts?

Strange

Last night I actually was thinking about both God and Owen and wondering where our next natural goalscoring phenomenon was ever going to surface. We're a bit of a shambles. We don't produce them anymore and we are not willing to pay for the best. Load of cock.

Indeed.. watching the Olympiakos 10 year anniversary thing and Neil Mellor that season prompted me too - sometimes you have to take a punt. With strikers the ability to hit the ball past a keeper into the net doesn't change as you go up the levels - the clever bits of play and the quality of defence are obviously much much greater but needing someone who can get a sight of goal and smash it goalwards shouldn't be this hard.

Even Pongolle in that game had a match winning contribution - we have none of that in our strike force.

Yes, we have some excellent young attacking midfielders but as Best Believe It says, Yesil's still getting back to full match fitness and that's about it. Sergio Canos is really classy and will do very well as either a striker or winger but he's still very young and he's not quite worked out where his best position is. Sinclair is more of a winger who can chip in with the odd goal; I like him a lot but he's got some way to go. Trickett-Smith is quite a favourite of mine - he's a midfielder but his ability to get into the box and his good technique when scoring has seen him pushed up as a 'false number nine' on quite a few occasions. Harry Wilson is probably the best bet here and now in terms of a player who catches the eye: a winger who scores goals fairly regularly, has a real striker's nose for goal and is super-confident when playing against more experienced opponents. I'd go for him and Yesil or Canos for an occasional place on the bench.

Was going to post the same re Wilson. He looks the sort to relish being thrown into a big game.
